wow. beautiful 43. The 43's were sent to Canada as well. I have seen them in several mines up here in Canada. Usually with no roof, roll bar, or front windows. I know a fellow that has picked up several Land Cruiser models from mining companies in Northern Canada.

44s bodies are aprox 16" longer than a 40 not sure on the wheel base all I know is they drive nicer than the 40s.
Wish there was more of them out there.

Somehow I doubt I'll find a fair 44 anytime soon, so I am thinking of getting a stretched Aqualu tub somewhere down the road. Not in my immediate plans, but curious just the same...would that 44 been on a 45 frame?

A little more info for you guy's here on mud that wanted to know more on the 43's series, the mayority of FJ's(40,43,45) sold in Colombia had hard tops, there where made by two local Factories:
Option 1:
-MPR .As show by th first truck WNGROG .(my personal Favorite)
Option 2:
-Fivres .As shown on the red truck.
whaterever you liked the most , there are some stetic differences on design and especialy on the back doors as shown on the pictures.

Forgot to tell you guy's that the top is very well made an it does come off but I would recomend to get a couple of friends to do the job , on my FJ40 wich had a fivres top I stimate it weghted 350Lbs .

More than 20 years ago, I visited a potash mine near Saskatoon, Saskachewan where there are hundreds of miles of tunnels 3500 feet below the surface. They chose the mighty Land Cruiser for transportation. They were BJ43's. They called them "troup carriers". If I remember correctly, the wheel base is the same as the 40, but the rear of the frame is slightly longer than the 40 to allow for the use of two larger bench seats for two people per side. I also saw some trucks that came came from an auction of a mining company in the Yukon or NWT. Some BJ42's, 43's, & some BJ75's. Hear some stories about great numbers of them at the auction. Don't really know that much more about them.

If I remember correctly, the wheel base is the same as the 40, ...

43 has a longer wheelbase and the rear part behind the wheels is longer too!

My 44 has bench seats that hold 3 people per side and was registered as a 8 passenger vehicle,also the wheel base is longer than the 40 series I think its 102" and has 45 spring packs rear and the 40 front.
Mine came as a factory soft top model but now has an after market JDM top.

The 43's came almost exclusively in a soft top from the factory... that is why you see so many aftermarket and fiberglass tops in SA.

The 44 has a 5.5 inch longer wheelbase and the body is 14 inch longer (I just went out and measured). It's essentially a SWB 45 setup for suspension and such.

Does this make each version carry different rear length Cardan Shafts?

I assume the front shaft should be one length and the rear ones would be the ones changing depending on wheelbase length.

Im currently restoring my 75 FJ43 with its original 2F and 3 gears on the floor.

could really complicate matters and point out that there are multiple model fj45s. fj45 swb pickups are 105, i believe the lvs are about the same. the lwb and troopie style 45 should be the longer wheelbase.

It would complicate matters for cars in USA, but Egypt only got the 40, 43, 45 Troopy & 45 Pick-Up and most were Petrol engines.

I saw the SWB and LWB here on the forums for the first time ever.

I know there are J25s in Egypt but I havent seen one yet.

My 43 now with OEM rims and hubcaps, imported from the US, with the kind help of Landcruiserparts! Needed to change tyres as well, from 33/12.5/15 to 33/10.5/15 !

I also fitted half doors, as the full doors only look nice with the softtop!

Great looking 43, and I notice its standing tall too, can you fill me in on the suspension/kit you have there ?

Is the 43's suspension really 40 in front and 45 in the back ??
As in leafs or struts, or both ?

I have plans for my 43 to raise it and bit and beef the suspension for heavy loads reaching 1 Ton

I imported the Heystee suspension from Holland, which is not as hard as other aftermarket suspension. Have the same on my 40, but with loadleafs rear, to carry gear for overlanding trips!

the yipaos are the s***!!! i saw them for the first time in "las ferias de manizales" and was in awe. the drivers were riding on the back wheels and making them turn in circles with nobody inside on a street full of people. next thing was the drivers climbing to the soft top and jumping hard on it while the crowd was going crazy.

then driver goes down, opens the door, gets inside, lowers the car and keeps on going like a in a normal car. of course all this happens with the car overloaded with moving furniture and other stuff

just amazing performance for a stock "dog" that is at least 60 years old.

A Friends Fj 43 , it has lockers front and rear , and Dobinsons suspension , original Asin winch , among other cool stuff.
