Hey. Considering both brands for my 60, but have never sat in either. Anyone in the Triangle have them? I’d love to sit in them before making the investment. Thanks.

I put a set of Scheel-mann in a truck, have a set ready to go in another. I did not find them comfortable. I am 6'3"240

Different league of seat but I put a Bestop Trailmax II Pro seat in my 60 with the canvas insert and it’s very comfortable. Drove to CO and back including a 17hr day and had no discomfort. Easy to install with some flat stock steel adapters I made, right size, matches brown interior well. Super happy with it! I’m 6’, 185. You’re welcome to try it out. I’m in Durham.

If you don't connect with someone quickly, check with @wngrog
He is an advocate of Scheel-mann seats and attends numerous events each year. Consequently, there might be an event/opportunity common to both your schedules where you could check out his seats and hear about his experience with them.

Good luck

Thanks for posting this.....I'm 6'2" 260 and have been considering Scheel-Mann seats for my 40.

Hi Chris, I'm not the OP, but I'd like to take you up on that offer.....I'm looking for seats to put in my 40. I'm down in Fuquay-Varina. If you don't mind messaging me your contact info, I'll reach out to you offline. Thanks!

Thanks. I've actually sat in these. They are definitely more comfortable than the stock seats.

Do you mind me asking why you didn't like them? I'm a bit smaller than you, but it seems like everyone loves them.

Anyone running Corbeau's? Really like the price point, but don't like the color choices.

I haven't found any real World reviews, but Huracan Fab has a new seat out as well. I'm in the same seat hunt as you.

a pair of front seats is on my short list as well but, no idea which way i'm going yet.

I'm on the west side between Holly Springs and Fuquay. @fourtrax is just south of me.
Check out the RTP dinner next Wednesday.

If I recall correctly, it has been a few years, they hit me wrong on the back of my legs to edge of the seat. I also felt they were a bit "tight" between the lower seat bolsters. I have had a couple different types of Corbeau seats and both were comfortable. The Corbeau's are not as well made as the SM but at half the price that is acceptable.

I swapped the driver seat in my 80 to a Recaro DSV (Ergo precursor) that I imported from Japan and I quite liked it. Not quite built for american sized people but I fit fine at 6'.

Not to hijack, but i am curious where to look for more info on this option. I'm on a quest for a new seat for my 80.

I love this retro look. I really do.

Thanks! That's a big reason I went to the trouble of importing it as it fits the theme well and is very interesting.

I got it from Yahoo Auctions Japan but there are also good options from UpGarage you just have to keep an eye out. They won't ship something so large so you have to use an exporter. I used Jesse Streeter who specializes in exporting and had a very reasonable fee. The shipping was pretty expensive though. I spent 45k Yen + Local Shipping and other fees 20k yen + 65k Yen DHL Air Mail shipping in 2022 and the prices have gone up since then .

I've actually sold my 80 series so I was thinking of selling it. It's mounted on a slider and an 80 series Planted seat bracket so it bolts up. It has double lumbar adjustment, 3 way power seat adjustment (but not front/back), and a slide out leg bolster, but it developed an issue where it would occasionally pop a fuse. I think I may have not used high enough gauge wire....

At any rate for an ONSC member I'd let it go for 850 the 80 series bracket and sliders. It might be the only one in this color in the US, the brown is a lot rarer than the dark gray and I don't believe this model seat was sold here.

Found these guys on eBay too. They reupholster old Recaro's. We will have to see what the budget is for seats when I get there. They're not cheap.
