Does anyone know of a link or ??? for a scanned copy of the FSM for the 80 series? I have one for my diesel 60 and its great because I just print the pages I need and then recycle them. I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

Cheers...

Not that I've heard of. I think there is a forum user that has gone through the pains of scanning the entire manual, but I think it'd be a hard sale to get it from him due to copy right concerns, and the shear size of the files.

You can purchase the manual on CD off ebay all day long for like $15 bucks and print out the pages you want, but I've heard it's not the most user friendly format. There's also the Alldata subscription. Most people find it more useful to be able to flip through the different sections at will.

Me, I just make a copy of the pages I need before wrenching so as to keep from greasing down the original.

Raventai downloaded all of the 80 series manuals from the Toyota "pay-per-use" web site. The URL is in the archives. It is a service where you get 24hr access to any of the Toyota manuals. As I recall, he was unable to automate the download and spent a good bit of time organizing the hundreds of PDF files, but the result must be pretty good because he can post pages quickly and the quality is outstanding.... much better than scanned pages.

Rookie2 the manuals on ebay are not a the real FSM (the Ebay'r refer to it as a Service manual) if you know of a real FSM on EBay post up a link please.

You can DL the complete FSM from the Toyota site and a couple of poster here have done it. You a charged a fee for access. The rates are daily, weekly, and monthly for unlimited DL's.

If someone has the computer skills and time to do DL it PM me I will pay for the access.

not correct, there are CD sold on ebay that are the official Toy FSM. Probably downloaded from the Toy web site and resold "informally".
But indeed, they are less convenient to use and need a reasonable computer to do searches with.

yes the quality is excellent, it is a lot of work basically a long day job to DL and organize but worth it IMO also you get manuals and information that are not available in paper (TSB's, training manuals, transmission overhaul manual etc)

directions and more info

not sure about the Ebay Cd's but the set I made is actually easier to quicker to use that the paper coppies, I have not touched the peper versions since

Sounds like a lot of work to download the whole manual. Raventai you should sell the CDs you made!!!! People would buy... THanks for posting the link to the forum discussion. Later

The content is not mine to sell.

You have the directions, spend the time and get it done.

The time is well worth it IMO and for $10, you can't beat what you get. It took 6 hours to download all the content (FSM, EWD, Tranny manual, TSB's, etc...) for my '97 and another hour or so to compile into the individual, searchable PDF's.

If you do decide to download the manual, the key is to keep the downloaded PDF's organized so when it comes time to recompile everything, you know what goes were...

Keep in mind that the lastest Adobe versions will search ALL pdfs in a given directory for keyword, etc. so this is indeed a viable option.

In order to have a "legal" copy the money has to go to Toyota. Paying Chuck the download fee enables Chuck to download it. If Chuck ONLY gives you the data and erases it, all is well.

If you both get a copy you are breakin the law, breakin the law...

I scanned my FSM before that service was avail from Toyota. Took it in and had the chippie put it into a document feeder and scan away.

What owuld be the problem of, say, scanning only certain sections--say all of the relevant pages regarding the front axle service. I mean, seriously, how much money did Toyota make this fiscal year??

A few pages here or there to help a brother out in dire straits seems ethically and morally ok...at least in my book (but then again, I've been called a liberal democrat for years now :flipoff2: ).

Money well spent to buy one yourself - either the man with the dogs or ebay for the printed version. Just do it. I've already paid for mine several times over with 1/2 banana work.
