SBC Dizzy wiring (1 Viewer)

Can someone tell me if the dizzy on a SBC is powered by more than one source?

Mine is was powered from the accessory only as far as i can tell. I say was because there was a 'y' connection in the power wire and one end grounded out to the engine block melting the wire as well as the oil pressure gauge hose. Kinda scary, pretty close to a fire... :whoops:

Need to know what type of distributer are you talking about. electronic, point/condensor/ or after market. They all wire different.
