I'm trying to finish up the alternator wiring on a 1976 fj40 converted to 350 and have looked through numerous threads but need a few answers. Here are a few pictures of my setup if anyone been through this before maybe they can help.
Pictures of alternator from donor 350 approx.1975 date. I'm not sure what amp rating it is. It looks like I hook the red power to positive on the battery. Other side looks like a ground stud? There's a 2 spade connection with "R and F" stamped on it. I don't have the female plug connector. Can I use this alternator or should I look for a different version which might make it easier to adapt to the Toyota wiring?

2nd picture shows what I think is a "fusible link" attached to a battery??

3rd picture heater connection has come loose? Any ideas on how to repair?

4th picture looks like a courtesy light?????
Thanks for your help!

Someone listed a replacement resistor within the last few weeks was like $20 with shipping IIRC - I would try and solder it back up first myself.

Get your wiring diagram and use the color codes to figure out if R and F is in your stuff. When my alternator goes, I'm doing a GM 1 wire 120 amp unit for like $100 and changing over to a volt meter. Once when it was 30 below running high beams, 2 heaters and some other lights while I stuck up against an ice wall 6 ft tall, the stock 30 A unit was way under powered

The bat post get the fat white wrire with blue tracer from your dash and look for a white thin wire with green tracer and plug it onto the F. If ya can’t find it jump a short wire from the bat to the F it’s suppose to be a sensing wire to regulate the voltage. The other one I have installed a dummy light on my dash if I didn’t I had run on. Some use a transistor to stop the. Back flow of power. Dummy light was easy and useful. I think been 20 years or more since I did my conversion. One post is a sourceing wire one post is a dummy light the Bat post goes to your wire to your amp gauge. I think. Haha. Been a long time.
Your 4th pic lights up the heater box controls.

I think that alt uses an external regulator. I think it would be wired similar to stk 40. The big wire probably shouldn't go to the batt.
Personally I would swap it out for and internal regulated gm alt, but that bypasses the ammeter and runs an idiot light. But that's just me and the way my sbc's are wired.
