Sbc accel HEI distributor cap feels loose???

I just put a new accel cap and rotor (pn 8122) on my sbc and the cap doesn't feel as tight as the original. It's not overly loose but it's not quite as snug as the other. Any one else have this problem? Is it normal for these caps to be a bit "looser" feeling. I've never had an accel cap on stock distributor before its always been stock and stock or full accel. TIA

Ok, I wasn't going to answer because I don't know. But, did you check that you have the rubber seal in place? I wouldn't think you'd want play given the tolerances which spark generally has.

Yes the rubber seal is in place. We're talking maybe a "1/16 of rotational play in the cap. On the sbc distributor there is a notch on the back cut into the lip of the distributor and the equivalent plastic tab on the cap to lock into it that's not quite as wide as the factory cap's.
