Looking to get a few opinions on what my 93 LC would be worth as is. Engine locked up a few days ago and don't have the time to rebuild. It has 255000 miles on it and is pretty much factory, no mods. The wife drove it and is in excellent condition inside and out, everything works. I replaced passenger side birfield, all seals, gaskets and bearings, axel, brake caliper and rotor. Driver side has all new seals, gaskets and bearings, caliper and rotor, bifield was replaced several years ago. Tranny is smooth and seems strong. Does not have lockers. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

If you have the time, you can get more parting it out. Altho I hate to see a nice looking cruiser getting parted.

Where are you in KY?

I'm located in Frankfort. I thought about parting it out but I just hate to tear a part a Cruiser in such good condition. I hate to get rid of it period but with a 5 and 7 year old there's not much time for projects.

what a purdy color. hands down my fav. i vote x2 for put in a new motor. heck for the cost transplant a 95-97 drive-train... win win, OBDII, new tranny, you know the history and have all the memories... shrug.

Hey, I am in Frankfort too. Nice looking cruiser. I have a 94 white FZJ80.

Keep it together if you can. If it were me, I would look for a good 1FZ to put back in for $ and times sake. You would have a nice 80 that you know is solid otherwise and are familiar with. A toyota diesel would be great but that would be some time and money and a good project.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Having done conversions and researched the topic, it really depends on 3 things, what you want to do with the cruiser, time, money. The least expense is find a used engine have the HG replaced and put it in.

I will have a good used motor in a matter of a few weeks, finally getting the turbo diesel project underway. I still DD mine everyday. I am in middle TN, shoot me a PM anytime.

Either way, I would vote for a used motor and keep what you know.

Thanks - Curt

Oh for sure I'd swap or repair. Just didnt sound like that was an option for him. You could always contract out the work. Therr are a few of us 80 guys not far from you.
