OK, here's the deal. I tore into my front axle knuckles with a rebuild kit in hand. Told self, self.....I don't really need that 54mm socket. If it's not at checker I can probably work around it. I used a hammer and chisel to get the nuts off the first side, get all the way through the rebuild on that side until I have to put them back on......what was i thinking? Of course they have to be set to a specific torque.

What to do, WHAT TO DO?

Send out a call for help at AZ CSC's. Within minutes I have a PM from Madbaggins saying to give him a call if I need to borrow a socket.

When I call him he's getting ready for bed and is kind enough to leave his socket in his mailbox so I can come by like a stranger in the night on my motorcycle to pick it up. I could have been a socket caper for all he knew.

Anyway, THANKS! By the way, the rebuild didn't fix my death wobble problem completely so it looks like new tires are in my future......good thing Madbaggins gave me a number to his tire hookup in the past!!

I'll drop the socket off either today or tomorrow. Greatly appreciated.

I hear he's going to do gas plumbing at GeoRoss's house today. He's gotta be doing something totally evil at night to balance out the help he hands out. I hear he eats babies.

apropos death wobble: look in the 40s forum, I don't think tires are the solution
