I think I would go with the rails before the locker. Just stay away from @raisinhell2 and @Broski. They take the paths you need the lockers for. Most of the trails aren't terribly difficult, some challenging. Just remember that Ouray is the Jeep Capital. If these newer Jeeps get around, 30+ year cruiser can handle it.
Hey Now !!!! Your giving me a good rep hahaha. I have ran almost every trail there in 2wd let me tell you going down black bear without a frt end to pull you through the switch backs is butt puckering. Coming up the backside of Imogene from telluride was epic. That is what happens when you snap a birf but refuse to allow it to ruin your weekend .. Trevor ran everything with us last year in an open diff mini on stocker tires

Contrary to popular belief, I go to SAS for the awesome scenery and beauty the wild flowers are insane !!

I disagree, for the trails around Ouray I would do the locker first. In less your planing on running the wall there's nothing you will need rails/rock sliders for !
I'm leaning that way, I have 4.88s to go in anyway, and the trans is constantly in and out of OD at hwy speed with 34s on it. Thinking the gear swap and locker may be the way I go.

I can't thank ya'll enough for registering for SAS 8. We sold out in 5 hours this year and it's truly humbling.
We are planning several additions this year. We want to get the ladies out on the trail this year with a Ladie's run. Will have something special for the Kiddo's one day also.
If you guys think of something that would make your week more enjoyable we are open to suggestions. Please feel free to share your thoughts.
Thanks, Casey..
That's awesome. Ladies, if you have room for one my wife might like a seat for that event!

Something we gave heavy consideration to was dropping the # of registrants to 50 this year in an attempt to "reset" back to a manageable crowd. Recognizing we get more and more new attendees each year we chose not to do this in order to make room for folks to attend. As a result, this is why we are going to armbands and looking to manage the herd of cruiser lovers as well as logistics a bit closer.
I can say we greatly appreciate this effort! Thank you!

Well you didn't say before you got new gears for the diff already waiting. Yeah do those and locker instead.

Question for the group but first some background. Other than hard core buggy rock crawling, I'm experienced and competent off road. I have no problem seeing the lines and will usually help spot less experienced folks when in a group. I'm bringing my bone stock 40 on 30x9.50 tires, open diffs. It's actually quite impressive what a stock 40 can do. That being said, do y'all think I will have any problem running these trails? I know most are mountain passes but some can be hairy at times. Would it be better to throw a lift on it with some 33s? I go back and forth all the time about lifting it but I love the way it looks stock.
In my opinion, the only place you might hesitate would be getting to and over the Wall. Otherwise, a lot of stock vehicles go over 90% of these trails every day through the season.

Nahhh. I’m running a 2 inch body lift to squish some 33s under her, but other than that am running stock suspension in my 62. Still managed to get into places that made me pucker and she didn’t let me down.

Unrelated: I heard a nasty little rumor Black Bear may be closed indefinitely. NFS is wearing down on hauling people off of it, especially when it’s supposed to be closed. Note, JUST A RUMOR.
I hate to say it but a lot of locals keep giving me that same rumor. From what I keep hearing, Telluride doesn't care if they ever get it back open and don't like people coming into town anyway.

******This is not about the SAS8 rally waitlist, this message is for the KOA camping reservation waitlist only*******

All right, I'm caught up. Just a quick update on what I have available. A big THANK YOU to ElviMcCoy for being willing to jump out of a DC and move over to an RV site. I was able to move someone off of the waitlist and get them into a cabin. Remember, if you want a Camping Cabin, Deluxe cabin, or group area tent site, instead of what's available I can add you to the waitlist. I currently don't have anyone on the waitlist. If you previously asked me about a waitlist and I didn't call you today, give me a call. That request may have been lost in the system. If something becomes available I will give the first person on the list a call to get you into a cabin.

3 Tent Sites available
15 RV Sites available
0 Deluxe Cabins available
0 Camping Cabins available

I'll be around that week. Already had a trip planned in that area for the same week...
I'll see y'all around!
