As the title states, how important is color to the rest of you?

I've been looking for a couple months now and since camping season is creeping up on me, I'm getting a little impatient. I have a lead on a 2005 LC, 130k miles, original owner, TB done at 88k, rust free, in great shape, not local to me but local to a family friend / long time high end auto mechanic, and in the $15k range. So on paper everything looks great. But I'm being a :princess: and can't decide if I can live with white. If it was any of the darker colors, black, burgundy, green, gray, I would be all over it already. White isn't the worst color and I don't hate it, but....

When we are shopping, there are many variables and we all have certain boxes that need to be checked. Which ones should be more flexible that others?

It's very important. If you don't get Riverrock Green Mica you aren't getting the best color offered :D.

White is a coveted color around here.

ETA: that sounds like a great deal...

I wouldn't pass up a good deal because of color. I like white because it is cooler in the summer months and takes abuse way better than darker colors.

You can always contrast it with darker wheels, bumpers and sliders if that suits your taste.

I know exactly where you are coming from. It's an important decision because you have to look at it everyday. I didn't look at white because that's the only color my wife has driven for 25 years, and I already own a white sports car. I passed on black because I've never owned a black car and I read some horror stories about how much they show dirt . I was also concerned about how hot it would get in the Texas summer sun. That left the real colors in between as a consideration. The 2000 - 2001 LX colors were limited. There was no true grey or silver which would have been my personal first choice. Instead, Lexus made greyish colors with blue, dark green and light green undertones and a straight up tan/bronze color. I looked at all of those in person, except Riverrock Green Mica, which I never could find locally. I ended up buying a 2001 Mystic Sea Opalescent which looks straight grey about 50% of the time, and light olive greenish grey the other 50% of the time. At first I loved it, then I didn't and thought I should have held out to at least look at Riverrock Green Mica, but at the end of the day (almost 2 months now), I've accepted it and really enjoy the vehicle as a whole. With a 2005, you have more color options. I would just rule out the colors you won't live with, and go for the best specimen you can find. At the end of the day, driving a 100 is a blast, no matter what the color.

Absolutely critical. If you don't get Garnet Pearl Metalic, you're not getting the full Land Cruiser experience.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think I'm going to try and move forward on this and live with the White. It isn't gold or tan so that a plus.

After getting the VIN, I dug a little deeper. The carfax shows almost no service history and the service history on Toyota's site is minimal except for a couple of big items. At 106k miles, they replaced the TB and WP, replaced both front axles, serviced all differentials, cleaned the air induction system, cleaned the fuel system, and there was a note of an inoperative DVD slot that was not fixed. Not sure why the seller mentioned 88k for the TB but if all looks good, I'm happier with it being at 106k instead.

Garnet pearl metallic and imperial jade mica were at the top of the list but they are harder to find. Then factor in service history, condition, mileage, price and convenience of purchase, I'm just not sure how long I should hold out for the right color. Of course, we all know that as soon as I get a white one, 3 or 4 darker colored ones will be available within a week.

No love for Imperial Jade Mica (6Q7)?

Color is important. I was looking specifically for green, and when mine came up for sale and was in great condition (relatively speaking) I am really glad I waited. Would I have been happy with a different color? Sure! Ultimately the truck is awesome regardless of the color. Getting it in the color you want is just icing on the cake.

With that in mind, white is nice. If it’s a really good deal, and it’s really in good condition, I’d go for it. Like others have said, white with black contrast accents looks great. Plus I hear it hides scratches and dents better than other colors. On my green truck, I scraped some branches on a trail and you could see the white lines from quite a distance. I had to buff them out. I couldn’t stand seeing them.

The other thing is, you will have a truck now. You can start modding and upgrading right away. :)

You could potentially wait months for one in your preferred color to come up. And what if when one does pop up it’s in really bad shape?

This is the only used vehicle I've ever purchased where i had to push color choice down the list of priorities.

My priorities;

1. Rust Free
2. Detailed service records
3. Low miles
4. Color

Fortunately, and IMO, the LC/LX 100 series has one of the worst color lineups from Toyota. I wish we got half of the color options from the 3rd gen 4runner.

Tan? Settled? :cautious:

Imperial Jade Mica with Tan interior looks great IMO. That’s what I wanted and was lucky to find one.

You are right though, I’d take one of these in any color if the price was right, condition was good, and like it just as much.

meh color is nothing if the price is right.

I even settled for TAN interior when i got the LC for 5K :)

I have all kinds of love for the dark green colors. I've had 97 LX450 in dark emerald pearl and a 2003 4Runner in Imperial jade mica. Both were two tone with gray lower accents. It's sad that 2003 was the last year of the green 4Runners.

To me the white is the best color, that being said a clean truck is so much more important then the color, and after some tasteful mods any color on this platform can look cool.
My color wasnt my choice but I made the most out of it and dont regret it at all, it adds character.
Unless it was Eucalyptus Mica.

Nice! My first truck was a forest green Chevy Blazer, and went from coast to coast with me and my wife. It took us to Vegas, and all sorts of other places. Lots of fond memories.

I had to sell it out in San Diego for something smaller, gas prices just got way too high, and I’d like to think it’s still out there driving around somewhere.

After deciding it was time for another truck, it had to be green. I wasn’t willing to compromise, but I also got lucky and found one local, fairly quickly.

Get any color. It will soon grow to be the best color for a cruiser for you.

White hundos are so sexy though, I don't know what the problem is. Rock those o.g. United Nations vibes
Far from the same white, btw. The UN white is really really white. Not something you find at the dealers. My 80 (in my avatar) was UN-white, on UN plates.

No, not really, but not super glossy either. Just old time glossy.
