Sandblasting and Treatment (1 Viewer)

Looking for some help. I have found a shop that will sandblast the underside of my truck (With Body still attached). So they will do Frame, Axles, skid plates. I don't have means to do it frame off. What I am wondering is what route I should go in treating after sandblasting is complete. I live in Wyoming and vehicle will spend 99% of its time in Wyoming and the only treatment that is used on Wyoming roads is dirt/sand.

You really have to paint after sand blasting since it removes everything. Would be pretty hard to get everything with body on.

I'd just leave it and coat with fluid film

These were my exact thoughts. I wouldn't blast it unless you're doing a body-off frame resto where you can really access all areas to recoat properly.

If you just have loose surface rust, you can knock off what you can (without exposing metal), and then move forward with fluid film/woolwax/etc.

Get yourself a needle scaler then. Can knock off dirt, debris and rust but won't go as far as a sand blaster and you can really control where you remove stuff.

Dry ice blasting seem to be a good option.

It seems like it's a good compromise method to remove crud in hard to reach places without tearing all the paint off

Found a place that does dry ice blasting in the area, will reach out today and see what they have to say

Yes and it's brilliant if you can get a hold of some. Look up the Repair Geek youtube video where he compare all the top "rust paints" to see why. Should really be top coated with their AG111 for full effect.

The last few months it's been really hard to acquire though so, I've been using Eastwood Rust Encapsulater Platinum which is very similar.
