I am installing a used set of hubs I got from a junk yard and they are pretty nasty.
Will it hurt anything to sand blast them to clean them up or should I go the parts washer route?
There is a lot of surface rust.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks

Pressing out the wheel studs would make it a lot easier to beadblast. Same with the lockout studs.

Sandblasting won't hurt them a bit unless you are planning to reuse the bearing races. I'd put electrical tape over the hub gasket face and seal surface on the inner side after first cleaning them up with wire wool to a shine. You want these surfaces to stay smooth for a good seal.

Oh yeah, make sure all the grease is cleaned out from the hub. Blasting media and grease don't mix.

Thanks Dave.

Thats kind of what I was thinking as well. But I wanted another opinion.
