Did you say SuperCharged, Locked and NO Rust?!?!

$38K

A bit of a friendly warning here, this will be a very long and detailed story/build log on my Supercharged, Triple Locked, 1996 80-Series LX450 / Landcruiser. Some of you out there know my rig and some don’t so here’s my best attempt at sharing all the work I’ve put into her. If you’re on the hunt for something way over-built and turn-key then keep reading…this is not a cheap, rusty, crusty, unknown LC sitting on a dealer’s lot. There’s a link at the bottom of the text to a dropbox folder containing 100+ detailed pics of how it sits today plus some out in the wild in its natural environment and a few videos.

Rewind the clock to 2014, my wife an I decided it was time to get our kids involved in more outdoor activities and we had a neighbor that was aligned with Tornado Alley Cruisers, local clubhouse of Toyota Landcruiser Association (TLCA), that introduced us to the 80-Series rigs. With the help of our local club members and IH8MUD, I was able to quickly identify the Two most important qualities necessary for us…Triple Lockers and NO RUST. As y’all know, this is more or less a unicorn wish-list in today’s world but I was patient. A few months later, I felt like I had hit the lottery when I found this LX450 sitting down in TX that had been owned and loved on by a Landcruiser aficionado. Deposit immediately put in place, inspection commenced then voila, now in my driveway. I drove the rig around for a month or so to get an understanding of what I had purchased and what I wanted it to become…this is where it got expensive. You think all you need are some springs, shocks and big tires then all the sudden you’re ordering a Supercharger, bumpers, armor, etc..

As you’ll see in the pics, our family has had a lot of fun with this 80 exploring the countryside from TX to Moab and in no way has it ever been abused or mistreated. I built this rig to handle any off-road situation yet deliver a reasonably comfortable and safe driving experience as this has not been used as a dedicated “trail rig”. If you’re looking for an 80 to start driving and enjoying, then this is the one.

I have not totaled up all the receipts and time I have put into this rig nor do I want too but I doubt I could replicate it anywhere close to the price I’m asking let alone find an 80 this clean to build out. There is nothing on my “to do list” outside of the starter dragging sometimes (spare included), in our eyes, it’s perfect for the task at hand in every way and believe it would be hard to find one like it anywhere.

The pics in the aircraft hangar were shot by one of our club members 5/1/2022 in case the backdrop looks familiar. I’ve included additional pics of our adventures which span our ownership so may notice some slight variances in the configuration over the years.

Here’s a link to 100+ pics and a few videos:

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your interest,
Sam
