I know the saginaw conversion has been covered to death, so before I get the "search" reply, let me assure you that I have and I'm still in need of some assistance. Here is my delima. I purchased a steering shaft, 3/4" 36 spline from Downey earlier this year to fit my sagniaw steering box. It turns out that the box I have is a 13/16" 36 spline rather than a 3/4". I contacted Downey yesterday to exchange my u-joint for the 13/16" version and was told that they're out of them and may not order any more until July. I don't have the option of not being able to wait until July to find out if they're ordering more. I've been on the flaming river sight and the Borgeson site, but it doesn't look like the offer anything in a 13/16". Does anyone know of a place to get a 13/16" u-joint that is a direct bolt on to the Downey hex shaft? If not, is it possible to convert my 13/16 shaft to a 3/4? I really don't want to spend $300 on the Downey box that isn't a 4 turn box like mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

zglad

Can't you just put a new 13/16" rag joint on it and call it a day?

I would also look at Grainger or McMaster-Carr for something suitable.

13/16 Spicer part

You can get the large (13/16 36 spline) saginaw input yokes that use spicer 5-170-x u-joint. I don't have the part# in my head but I can give it to you if you remind me on monday.
send me an email.

Other people carry this stuff. Did you try Advance Adapters? TPI?

Thanks for the input! The Downey shaft is a hex shaped shaft, so it sounds like I need to send it back if I go with someone else's kit.
