Is the scout smaller than the chevy?looks like the scout mounts are set up to run outside the frame by the pictures I've seen.does someone know first hand?thank for any info.

Yes I figured the title with saginaw in it,well I guess I sould have made it clear.

On a 40 you need to mount the box inside the frame rails. (unless youre using full size axles) Use something like Scout or Jeep Grand wagoneer, which I used. With the wagoneer you get the bigger pattern, easy to find, and the stock steering arm )if you use stock) accepts the big rod ends. The shaft going into the box is bigger on the wagoneer that CJs. The plumbing is pretty easy, go to an auto parts store that has a book with pics of power steering lines and their lengths to get the line you need. Return line is a no brainer because theirs no pressure on it. All the same applies to scout (Saginaw is Saginaw) but may be harder to find. Im not sure about some of the sizes, scout used a lot of different stuff over the years.

The scout box mounts like the Chevy but it positions the actually worm drive portion above the frame making it a slimmer profile. It's not actually smaller though.
Here's mine mounted to a FJ55 frame.

Hi All:

"Lil' John," great photo of a nice set-up!

I run a classic "Saginaw" PS conversion on my FJ40, but I have a friend that did the Scout Saginaw conversion and I have to admit that it seems a bit "cleaner."

Regards,

Alan
