I really like the FZJ80 transmission cooler as a PS cooler. Adds capacity, has the correct size inlet and outlets and is pretty large, which should dissipate heat well.

It's essentially the same thing as PS fluid.

I ran some PS fluid in my tranny when it got low once.

Besides, the pink color is awesome...

Lol...
Hey, where do you get a new seal for that adjuster nut??
Just pull the old one and find something like it, or is it a specific seal??

AutoZone should have them :)

Its a nut and a fancy washer..

Thanks brother!!
I'll check that out tomorrow or Friday.
In my travels, I read about putting an additional rubber o ring to help seal under the nut??
Now, if I'm not mistaken... You need to keep the center screw in its set location and loosen the nut around it, right??
Nothing fancy needs to be done besides that??

exactly

Had some time today and went over to summit to take a look at some coolers... Seems that I WILL be able to make a radiator cooler work. Dropped the bib and measured. If I got a 3/4 in thick cooler, it'll work.

I found I needed to rework the nuts holding on the Toyota badge to keep them from puncturing the cooler.

The adjuster nut was LOOSE?!?
Hopefully that'll seal it after tightening it. Put some thread lock on it...
Got the cooler mounted in front of the rad. Today, now just trying to find the cleanest and safest way to run the lines.
It would figure... I have a fellow cruiser head my roll of spiral wrap (that I haven't used in the last year) and of course NEED IT for this project!!! DUMB!!!

What's the rationale behind the ATF in the steering??

That's what Toyota specs for it. I filled mine up with PS fluid when I first put it together, and it wouldn't even turn the wheels with the front end on jack stands. FJ60 pump, saginaw box. I flushed it with ATF, and it works fine.

Once, in the driveway, moving it around, the PS pump puked fluid (ATF) out the top. Only once, but I've heard about fj60 pumps doing that. No issues during Rubithon after adding a cooler. I only did it for something to do. I had noticed my PS lines had color from being hot before. Since I did it, the PS gearbox output line has been cool enough to touch any time I checked.

Yeah... The blotch rig pump puked all the time w/ 35's and a locker...the stock pumps are horrible in toyotas for mods. Life is much better w/ Saginaw!! :)

Just for what it's worth, hydro boost and hydro assist are different things. Just FYI. :)

Yeah, i couldnt remember if you had a hydro-boost setup. I seemed to think you did. Thats where a PS pump provides hydraulic pressure to both a PS box and a braking system(booster). i run this on my 40 since my little diesel doesnt provide the vacuum needed to run a traditional brake booster... sorry for the confusion!

sounds like youve got it worked out by tightening it. congrats for a simple solution...

My 60 pukes PS fluid all the time, much better since I flipped the gasket over on the fill cap.

Chicago, was Jr. able to help you out?

Sort of... He was a little foggy since it had been so long since he was in one, but it was helpful to get a general idea.

Hopefully just the nut tighten will take care of it.

Thanks to you and him!!

Not that anyone really cares to see my "hardcore" power steering cooler install, but here are a few pics just for the sake of thread completion! :)
As long as I have it all down, one thing that has been bothering me and several people have been griping about this.... I'm gonna take the time to paint the interior of the "Toyota" emblem on the grill WHITE!!
