Hello all,

I received my rewebbed belt for my LX450 today from Safety Restore and the color is completely wrong. My original belt was a light tan/oak/etc color and I received a chocolate brown belt. I clicked on the "color match" option when I ordered, but it's clearly not the right color. I've reached out to them to see what happened, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

I have attached a photo of the belt next to one of the originals still in the car.

If they send you another set, I’ll take the brown ones off your hands 😬

Super glad I found out about this place, despite the color differences. I seriously need my webbing replaced!

They did a good job on the stitching and reusing the labels, etc... The person doing the work must have been color blind because it's not even remotely close... Hopefully I hear from them soon.

I hope they get this sorted for you!

I reached out to them and apparently they only have 2 gray colors, so I'll have to choose from that. It looks like their turn around times aren't too bad either.

More than likely it was a simple error. Human beings make mistakes all day long. Personally, I would have waited to hear back from the company before making a public statement like this.

That's why you are you and the original poster is himself. I beg to differ on your opinion of his posting, since if he hadn't, I'd of never known about this company. Never mind that we all spend ALLOT of money on our rigs and from a quality perspective, this type of feedback matters. One could also say that if the original poster gets this sorted out, then he has an opportunity to now say quality of things about this company and help everyone to also go to them for their fine seat belt restores.

On another note, anyone know a place to get the actual mechanism of the retractor to pull in the seat belts better/faster?

I agree with Jon here. It's basic to check to see what really happened when something like this comes up, as most vendors are happy to make things right in cases of error. That's unremarkable. Everyone makes mistakes.

Starting on a downnote is a good strategy for driving up internet statistics. Not sure about how it builds rep, even once corrected.

Whoever said any publicity is good publicity said that before the internet came along. On the internet, the negative seems to get more than it's due, because it drives traffic. I tend to turn off that road pretty quick, there's plenty of it out there and plenty of places where meaningful exchanges are encouraged instead.

There's allot assumed from the OP's post. Apparently, more to beat a horse with. This reminds me allot of Twatter and Fakebook posts...let's kill it, its still moving!!

Now, let's get back to my last question about seat belt mechanism tension. i'm assuming that I have to buy a new one, unless there's a way to refurb the old ones.

Couldn't tell you anything about tweets or FB. Never been a member. Don't want to be. We should just agree to disagree on the internet, it saves a lot of otherwise wasted energy.

On the belts, it's pretty much a rebuild yourself or get someone to do it the right way. I think the gray were the last OEM available, doesn't work well with typical oak seen in US spec 80s, and I think even that supply might be gone. Thus the concern about getting a rebuild right.

Safetyrestore Will disassemble the retractor mechanism and clean it as part of the webbing replacements service.

I have heard nothing but good things about this company from people who’ve used them. Not sure what the deal is with the webbing color match in this case.

On the belts, I def want to get the OP's vendor to do this for me. Although, I'm wondering if my local upholstery shop could also do it.

Additionally, I'd like the seat belt mechanical part to have more tension, so they retract allot better than mine are right now. If any ideas on the tensioning part, I'd be ever grateful. Thanks!

Sweet! Then I'll wait until it gets returned and check the tensioning thereafter. Thanks @ERG80!

My experience with safety restore was overwhelmingly positive. Turn around in a week from the day I shipped. Probably should have gotten ahold of them first IMO.

This is what mine looks like, so it definitely needs to be re-done for sure!

Wow... didn't expect my comment to be this lively. I was not intending to crucify the company, I was just providing a heads up to those, like me, that didn't have much background on the company other than their website.

I'm sure they will replace it of course, but it's good to know going into it that there is a possibility of a screw up. It's not like I was ordering a spare part and it's no big deal. I had to take my truck out of service for 7 days while the Post Office delivered, Safety Restore repaired, and then shipped it back to me. Shipped on Monday, delivered on Wednesday, repaired on Thursday, shipped back to me on Friday and it was delivered on Monday. And I'm going to have to do it again... I might opt for 1 day shipping both ways but that will more than double the cost of the repair and have it back to me in, at best 3-4 days.

Sent off my 'less than safe' drivers side seat belt today. Hoping to have it back by next Saturday or ensuing Monday in gray. 🤞🏼 😝

For those that don't want to take their cruiser out of service while doing this. Seatbelts are not expensive from @slow95z. I got one from him and plan to send that in to be rebuilt, when that is done I will likely sell my original to someone else who is going to do the same. All the cruiser clubs should buy used ones so the members can do the swap and not have down time.
