What chevy axles do i need? 1500 2500? What about a caster plate? It says you can get a 10 degree caster plate or a 0 degree, whats it do?

What? You don't need any chevy axles. What are you trying to do?

If you have a new to you cruiser, the very best thing to do, is get all of it's systems working and up to snuff. Live with it for a year. And then start your modifications if you want. You have a much better understanding and you'll be starting with a truck in good repair. Spring overs have their place, but will basically ruin your truck as a daily driver.

So decide what you want the truck for, where you might go in it, and what your budget is.
 
Its for play for sure not a daily driver. I have a list of stuff i need to work on and have just started but i wanted to go ahead a do the lift while i had the axles out.
 
Get it baselined and up to date before you do anything. It would be a shame to waste a ton of time working on suspension only to find a fatal flaw somewhere else.
 
a lot of people do 63" chevy springs. You're gonna need to do a lot more research before you get started. no offense.
 
This is an old thread I realize, but it is closely related to my current situation and question.

I understand that the cut-and-turn is so that one may optimize both caster angle and pinion angle.

My question is, if one put perches on top of the axle exactly 180° from the stock perches, and then put the springs on top of those perches, would the caster have changed at all?

No.
 
But, on a 60, the perches are set at close to zero caster - I believe. SOA is a chance to up the caster to 3 or 4 degrees which should improve steering.
