I agree that One is already right as soon as you A. burn in your perches or B. fix you axle in a jig, you fix the other with a cut and turn.

This really just annoys me because when I did my spring over axle I had quite a few very narrow minded individuals telling me if you don't do a cut and turn it will steer horribly. No matter how many times I tried to explain to them that 3 degrees of caster is 3 degrees of caster regardless if the axle has been cut and turned or not and all that is effected is pinion angle which is very close to stock.

Do you have any binding, or break u-joints?

Seems like a steep angle....but you are right, the caster can be set without a CnT. The CnT is to have the best pinion AND caster.

A lot of people with SUA setups use shims to change castor, but the driveshaft angle is less dramatic than a big 'ol SOA.

No its not close to binding. I can flex the 60 out to the max, unbolt the driveshaft and drop it another 6 inches. I wouldn't have even needed a high angle cv but I got a good deal on it and I figured I'll link it next time I start using it for a daily driver.

just my $0.02 but if you rotate pinion up enough you don't have to extend your front drive shaft, at least my '85 is. puts less bind on your ujoint. after SOA, my pinion is a straight line with driveshaft, only extends about 3/4" more from factory position with plenty of room left for flexing. that's with aal's and +1.5" shackles.

the ruff stuff kit looks like nice quality parts but not really necessary imo. only thing you really need is hi-steer arms and a TRE for drag link. just re-use all your old factory stuff unless you don't feel like doing all the cutting & grinding.

Thanks for the reply Kurtis. Can you run in 4wd at speed?

both my SOA 60's had no CNT so yes it can be done ... I just get tired of dragin my pinon's off road :meh: for me my future CNT is to help off road performance:steer::hillbilly:

Yea I have only tested it up to 75mph but up to there I have no noticeable vibes which is about as fast I can ever see myself going in 4wd.

No it is a double cardon. 40 degree 1310. Originally I was going to run a double dc shaft but I installed it and tested for vibes and had no issue so I left it. I literally paid $250 for the complete shaft brand high angle and balanced new so it wasn't even worth it to me to lengthen the old shaft. Running a dc shaft and a v8 swap with a 4l60e and stock t case is a a pain though as it defiantly takes a little massaging to the pan.

I don't think mine would fit one... not enough clearance near the tranny pan.

Oh well, way off subject anyways... I wont be doing a SOA at all. I'll fit 35's with SUA.

Yeah then when you do spring over you'll say "I can't believe I said I would never do spring over"

Yea I had to clearance some internals in my transmission, modify the pan, then build some custom bolts for the corner, just to get it to go.

It may not be 100% necessary but after spending all the extra time to try and save the stock perch mounts I think their worth it(I didn't have new perches but I would next time). Also you need shock tabs whether you buy them or build them. Shock towers in the front are important so that you can run longer shocks and not limit the extra travel you worked so hard to gain. IMO it might be worth your time to throw on some 63" chevy springs while your at it. It's not that much more work and I love the travel/smooth ride. The CNT is cheaper and easier than repairing a broken pinion if your diff binds from a bad angle(like my rear diff did).

I have an 85 fj60 and with the soa lift can i drop the transfer case an inch and do without turningbthe knuckles? How about shims to get the angle right? 8 degree i believe are the ones i found.

1) If he lowered the transfer case of an inch you will increase output flange angle by a couple of degrees.

2) A properly set of spring over suspension on a cruiser always requires a cut and turn front axle.
