Some Con Trivia for you all

The EDSO will be patrolling the trail on weekends. This year they say they are doing zero tolerance. Remember the Rubicon is considered a county road.

SAR people may be on duty as well. We do NO law enforcement. We provide info and first aid only. We all have radios on 805 and SO channel.

Don't bring your pregnant wife, we don't carry Speculums and helo rides run $7-10K

Merlin Scott (ex deputy) has been hired as a community relations officer. He will be on the trail all Summer. He has an SO radio and monitors 805.

There is a UHF repeater system installed at Spider Lake that links to 146.805. The very best repeater to use for emergencies. All SAR and OES people monitor this frequency and it has a closed autopatch. My call in N6KML, Jim, feel free to give me a call. My telco is 530-344-9388.

805 covers Stockton to Marysville, Sacramento, Vacaville and most of Lake Tahoe. There is a Tahoe side link if anyone is interested, contact me and I'll tell you the freq.

Last chance gas is at the second Pollock Pines exit. (Shell) There is a Napa, Safeway and Taco Bell.
Gas is usually available at the ice house resort. 12 miles up Ice House Road. Expect to pay 5 dollars a gallon

There is no cell service past Union Valley Reservoir. Except at the Loon Lake Chalet. Drive into the Chalet and onto the dirt parking lot. The closer to the weather insturments you get the better signal you will get. There are occasional spots on the trail where you'll get a signal.

Have fun, I may see you there.

I drive a red 40, soft top, half doors and an 8270 winch.

Big Jim

we'll be there. Either on Thurs after the breakfast run, camping at buck, or coming in early through Cadillac on Monday or Tues. Then back out to Buck or the loon to meet people for that run- than back to the springs..

please come say hi if you see a dark green/ grey 40 with a silver family cage, grey prp seats, and home made cooler rack on drivers side.

cant wait!

Hello All TLCA members, 55 Guy, Manny, and myself are going in tuesday noon, from the tahoe side, drop off trailer at springs and on to loon lake see you all there  . Thursday breakfast run :bounce2: :bounce: ROCK DOGS ROCK.

I'm planning on being there if I can get my junk fixed in time. Waiting for parts to arrive..... Thursday run with orange45

We'll be heading in backwards early too

Ken...Besides you and Preston, who will be with you?

As an update, the Tahoe crew, led by Gunmetalcruz went in on Saturday with saws to work on the many down trees. Once those are cut or moved, the Tahoe side of the trail should look very similar to last year -- some snow and DEEP water especially between the Barker Pass turnoff and Miller Lake.

So far it's the two of us. I don't know if sambudo is out or undecided.

In other news, 4.56 spare is on the way. Maybe I should have opted for a snorkel??

I will probably be making a Cameo Appearance either in the sticker machine if I want an open diff challenge or in my XO Yoda monster if I just want to put it through in 2WD and digging on the CD player, either way I am sure everyone is excited to see me out there and can't wait to say hello to Mickey Rubicon. When is it again this year? Hey Jim Are you going to have any tequila? I made some of my own with special recipe from Rosarito this year and would not mind to share.

Communication/cell Phone

What's the deal with being able to make calls out on the CON? is there zero reception? Trying to prep my work situation and feel out what I will be able to do while out there at night at camp. Thanks in advance.

Nope..

No cell phones, no toilets, you need to pack your own s*** out. No Starbucks, no Mcdonalds. Maybe you and Paris need to stay home and fondle your Crack-berrys

Leave your uptight self at home.

Nearest hard phone line is at Ice House Resort, 20 miles away. And people get pissed when you Bogart the phone.

PS Verizon wireless works for Internet at Ice House Resort and in and around Union Valley reservoir, because thats where Big Hill is. And its a big hill with lots of antennas on it.

Paris will be joining me and providing the nights entertainment :flipoff2: unfortunately, a great portion of my work is on the phones. Thanks for the info JB.

You should not call work during Rubithon. Just go, and enjoy all the Cruiser madness. As Jim said, no Starbucks/fast food. No repair shops either.

If you must call, there is about a 50/50 chance of signal right at the top of Walker Hill. I have called home to the hausfrau from there. Otherwise, no signal anywhere on the trail. I think we are on the same run-if you need to call, I'll show you the rock to stand on for the best shot at a 1 bar signal.

sunday i am going to my parents place and working on the 40 for a few days befor i head up to the con on tuesday

I wish I had the choice to call or not to call, but I'll work it out some way. Rogersfj40 makes a pretty mean cup of Joe so I'll live w/out the starbucks.

I'll be askin for that rock on walker hill drew. Trying to clear everything out as best as possible for the week.

I will be coming through Friday night after 10 pm from Tahoe side or Loon side not sure yet. I will flip a coin on the way up through Sac. I will be in a primer black toyota cage on wheels, since I got work on Monday I will say hi to whomever I can but I will be jammin' through mostly at night when not so hectic on the trail. Good luck to y'all. Have fun and be safe.
