Me and the :princess: took the trip up to Tahoe to take part in the roundup. This was the first major trail I have taken since the SOA has been completed. It was a great trip, great trail and great company. Besides breaking the power steering pump, I had no problems and thankfully that happened at the tail end of the trail in Big Sluice.

Here are some pics.

The guy in the mini truck didn't spill a drop in Little Sluice!

Great 3 day trip without the kids!

Lessons learned;

1. Roof Rack!

2. ARB in front, not an auto locker.

3. Bring more beer than you anticipate you might drink..

4. No one brings an extra saginaw box, I will start to.

Thanks for looking.

Here is some scenery.

Hi All:

Hey Matchan420, forget the H41, and swap-in a SM420! :D

Seriously, glad you had a good run, it looked like a fun trip! :)

I like how simple your rig is!

BTW, how did you "break" a Saginaw PS gearbox?

Regards,

Alan

Did you make it out alright with no power steering on Sunday. We partied pretty good the Saturday night and didn't end up waking up till about 10:30 on the Sunday when we planned to leave at about 8 to beat the crowd. Oh well it was a fun trip and I am looking forward to it again next year.

Here are the pictures from our trip.

The crew-cab is pretty impressive.

Can't wait to hear about the PS issue.

Matchan, how much of those big shocks were you using, do you think? I'm starting to think about ordering some. Would you get the 12" ones again if you had it to do over?

Thanks for sharing, that's a run I'd like to make, maybe next year ! Scenery shots were great as well !

Au contraire, Pierre. Click on canadian bum's picture link. He's got a sweet SAS Tacoma Crewcab.

Oops, thought you were talking about the Ford in the beginning of the thread.

I have thought about the SM420 route, but I would like to stay as true to Toyota as I can, plus it seems more expensive.

The pump broke, not the box...still NO POWER!

We got up early, I was one of the EMT who helped the guy who was getting life flighted, so I missed the opportunity to get sloshed, we headed out around 830, beat the major convoy! Cadillac was interesting without P/S, but not as bad as I though though.

I am running 12" in the front and 10" in the rear, when we set up the suspension we had a few different sizes and the 12" worked the best when we articulated it on the lift. I am currently using all but 1'' on up travel.

Thanks guys.

looks really fun! Thanks for sharing the pics... what about a toybox instead of the H41 or GM tranny? Do you drive it or tow?

I drive and tow, I need a better tow rig at the moment and it might be a while. I dont know much about the toybox, I do however like my driveline angles and the length of cases. Do you run one?

I was one of the guys running around with a light. Didn't realize you were one of the EMT's. I got sloshed after that which was why I was up so late haha. Good thing you got out early there was quite the traffic jam and some people not following trail ethics and doing only a three try rule then tug to keep things moving. Got stuck behind some guys doing the 20+ try rule. Oh well.

I drive and tow also. A toybox is something I am considering, so it is nice to hear opinions.
