hi guys,
I’m trying to install the new oil pressure sending unit and the threads are evidently not matching up with the hole in the block. Is it possible the threads on the Dakota sending unit are standard while the hole in the block is metric?

Just don't get metal shavings in the oil passage when you re-tap.

The engine temp send unit installed just fine.

I have no idea how to re-tap threads. Poo.

Your auto parts store should have an adapter. I think the threaded fittings on Toyotas were BPT, not metric.

@redeye you need a 1/8" male BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread) to match the Toyota port.

Retapping the block is not a good option, IMO

@73FJ40 thanks! So to be sure, I need a 1/8” NPT to 1/8” BSPT?

@redeye ,

Your engine block is 1/8 female BSPT.

(I ASSUME) Your new sending unit is 1/8 male NPT. (The sending unit in the picture I posted was 1/8 NPT)

If so, the adapter fitting you need is 1/8 male BSPT by 1/8 female NPT.

Since you appear to be unfamiliar with the types of pipe fittings, I strongly suggest that you sketch out the block, fitting and sending unit to better visualize what you need.

Thanks @73FJ40 - I can visualize it, I just am second guessing myself. I might give Dakota a ring tomorrow

Or I’ll just buy the $9.99 adapter I found on Amazon and see if it fits. ;)
