I have a question for those that have tried or know of anyone that have or are using either the Roundeyes or the Hella H4 headlamps.
I want to get rid of the stock 6024 headlights that came stock on my HJ60. I tried the Sylvania Silverstar headlamps but were disappointed that they only lasted a couple of months. They were a decent improvement in the light output but I went through two in a couple of months. Right now I have a regular set of headlights but am undecided on what to get.
I pretty much narrowed it down to the Roundeyes and the Hella H4's.
I'm looking for a headlight that'll produce a brighter light and will project a broader beam for improved night visibility. Since the HJ60 has some fancy way of wiring the headlights, unlike the FJ60, I don't really want to change the factory wiring so I think I'll stick with the 60/55 watt bulbs. That's another question I have. Which H4 bulbs should I use?
I've read some of the other threads regarding headlights and bulbs but I want to get a first hand thumbs up or thumbs down from those that have actually run the Roundeyes or Hellas in their rigs.

I have Roundeyes in my FJ60. They're awesome compared to stockers. I have other sets to put in my FJ40 and Hilux now. I'm that impressed with them.

The roundeyes sound nice.

I have the IPF housing and some IPF magic 60/55 W bulbs. Installing them made a good improvement. I got a bigger improvement once I made a harness and plugged it into the lights. I was going to get some brighter bulbs but after installing a new harness which I ran straight to the alternator bolt I think I will wait awhile. The low beams are really bright and I like the cutoffs on the IPF which I don't know if they are on the roundeyes. The cutoffs help keep the light from blinding oncoming traffic. I was told that with the good cutoffs I could run higher bulbs without blinding oncoming traffic.

Or you can go HID retro!:D:cool:

Just a thought.....:D:D:D you might spend more time and money but I think its worth it.... I have a link to the build in my sig...;)

Good luck... I too got tired of the silverstars not lasting too long...

I've tried Hellas, IPFs, and Cibie H4 headlights (sorry, no Roundeyes). They all worked well, but my preferred order is:

Cibies
IPFs
Hellas

The Cibies I felt had the best cutoff / dispersion patterns. Don't get me wrong. The Hellas aren't bad. I just liked the other two even more.

The Cibies are what Dan Stern recommends as well, and the guy is an auto lighting god. I've talked to him about getting the best lights for my application with both the 62 and my Duster, and he definitely knows his s***.
