I tore my transfer apart today .......replacing all seals gaskets and some bearings..... I had a mad leak coming from the 5th gear spacer on my tranny. It was leaking out of the tiny 24 mm seal off the fifth gear linkage pin. What a pain in the a$$ the slit case is..... bomber but pain in the a$$. I also got the front bumper almost done too. I also got new BF goody mud terrains too. lots of upgrades this past week. I'll get some shots and post up the changes....
Oh and thanks to "uglyoinker" for the barn to work in!!!
sweet set up....thanks jake!

.....

Apparently I didn't do anything to help! Which is kinda true. I'm sorry. I feel like a huge douche for working on my own darn cruiser and only helping some of the time.....
Maybe next time I'll do a better job of helping you the whole time. Maybe we can drop another splitcase just for fun next week?!

Looks like you have had some bad luck with your cruiser...sorry to hear that man. That sucks!!! I can't wait to see the front bumper your fabbing. So did you ever get a chance to get the bumper you are building me powder coated? Cant wait to see that too!!! Talk to you soon.

no worries on my cruiser....i'm use to it. It should be golden for a while now.

(bumper)
I did ....it looks great.

what are we doing for shipping? are you picking it up and installing at my house in Utah for cruise moab???

...

No serious thanks needed clown. Not a big deal at all. Except for how much that splitcase sucked.

I am prob. not going to be finished with the cruiser in time to cruise Moab with it.:crybaby: However if you don't mind me hangin' with you a bit while I am out there (My GMC van is no good off-road), I will drive out in my van and just bring the bumper home that way. It should save a good amount of $ instead of shipping that beast... let me know your thoughts...Talk to you soon man.

Oh and by the way, POST SOME PICS!!!! I would love to see pics of the finished product on the bumper. I am also siked to see pics of your new front bumper!!!:steer:

...

Hope everything drives down the road nicely after reassembly.:cheers:

I havent been here in a while.....
After the cob webs are cleared out now!

Reassembly went fine. I figured I would start to keep all me builds and mods to tonto right here on this page instead of starting new threads on each mod or build.

I'll up date soon.

I noticed you said you have a brake controller hooked up and a class 5 hitch. Whats the most you've pulled and for what distance with this bad boy? What springs are you running? How do the 4.56s feel for towing. I really want to start using mine to haul my other toys to the dunes, sand rail bikes quad in a 24' enclosed. Shouldn't be much over 6k its just a giant trailer.

I have pulled a 28 foot sportfishing boat from Utah to Alaska and back as well as Utah to baja mexico and back up to oregon and to Alaska again... The trip from Utah to my house in Alaska is 4,100 miles one way! Its really not the pulling that is a concern...its the stopping that can be challenging with a heavy load like that. I really could use disc rears....thats next!
I also love the gearing...4:56 with a h55f tranny and ranger torque splitter in front of it. At 75 mph i am only taching 2100rpm's and at 55mph the tach reads just 1750.
Hope this helps out.

Yea sounds good thanks man. Sounds like the axle and split case are up to the task. That is a good looking motor, sounds like its built just about right as well. The trailer is an 07 with torsion axles and brakes on all four so it stops and behaves pretty well. Sounds like 4:56 are the way to go. I'm running a 5.7 and 4l60e

What are you running for springs in the rear? aftermarket or stock with aals? Stance looks nice.

runnin stock 60 springs with one AAL. Its sits perfect in my eyes too. And rides awesome too. soft and stable.

How many MPG's are you getting with your setup?

TK

puttin around town I get 10 -12 on the highway rollin in 5th with the torque splitter in high at 65mph I get close to 18 - 20mpg.

18-20 on the highway is GREAT! I can only dream of those numbers...

You've got a really cool rig. Do you have any pics of the hole you had to make for the torque splitter?

Hey, I think I have a decent full-size air cleaner with a K&N element that you can have if you want it. I have to wonder how 383 cubic inches breath through that thing...:) Very nice though, I liked it when I saw it last spring at uglyoinker's place.
