I like the "Toyota Land Cruiser rear badge mod", myself. Nice write-up!

Nice catch. I get a lof of flack for that, but CDan only has access to Toyota parts and there was no way I was going to pay Lexus retail for a chunk of plastic. Hindsight I probably would have just left it blank, because after I removed the cracked one and all the foam tape it looked pretty clean without a badge.

looking directly at the back of your truck, can you see the whole license plate? Im going to get the exact rear bumper with one swing out for now, like you did. I would also choose to have the tire swing out on the DS. Do you happen to have a pic of the rear swing out from the DS angle? Just wanted to see the angle of the tire and how much it sticks out. Thanks, and your truck is looking really good. Whats your plan for the front bumper?

Actually looking from straight behind the truck the first one or two characters are partially covered but the tire. Luke sent me a license plate bracket to mount onto the empty arm, but I haven't got a chance to run some wire and a light down there. I should probably move it asap since that and the lack of mudflaps is an excellent way to get pulled over by officers with nothing to here in UT. I've received more mudflap and window tint fix-it-tickets when I lived here than I care to remember.

There is a lot of debate on which side to swingout. One argument is that it would hang out too far into traffic. However, even with a 315 mounted, it doesn't stick out much further than the side mirrors on the labs bumper.

I don't have a DS pic handy, but I measured it and the tire only sticks out about 5 inches from the hatch. That is a little bit more than a standard labs tire carrier because of the hi-lift mount. It's nice to have a little bit of a buffer while backing up on tight trails too.

So why have I not seen you around town? I'm just across the way in Syracuse. Really good looking truck. From your sig it looks like you're leaving town again soon for a while.

Thanks Adam. I've been looking out for your rig too. I pretty much live in a the library so my truck sits all day. I'd like to take a little break and head down to Kurt's Cruiser Outfitters bbq. It sounds like a lot of WC people will be there. Kurt was telling me there are going to be a lot of neat cruisers down there.

profile pic of currrent rig?

This is all I have on hand.

Thanks again for all of the nice comments. I couldn't have done this without everyone's advice and help.

I originally thought Monday was 2 weeks from LT1's ROTF but 2 his weeks ends on Thurs IIRC. I don't want to steal any time from LT1 so I'll just PM Romer or Woody then.

BTW, thanks for the comments. It nice to have people recognize all the work you have done. Most people think were nuts being so passionate about maintaining/modifying 12+ year old wagons. Then again, maybe we are;)

Great looking truck and writup!! Its just so clean though...... makes me want to wheel those western trails.

Hey you are welcome to it. I mostly did mine as a now and then as I am planning on doing it again in a year or so.

You can try to disguise your pink pantie mobile :flamingo: but we all know!

Great looking RIG! And damn that is quite a PM list you did over the summer of 08'

So how was the difference moving up from the 285 coopers to the 315's? I love my Coopers and they are wearing GR8 and will probably go with them again myself but hopefully after a lift so I can go bigger.

Looks pretty sweet, Nick. I keep thinking it's stock cause of your avatar

I need to do a ROTF sometime...

Great looking 80 Nicholas, and pleasure finally meeting you the other day

It was a pleasure meeting you too Kurt.

I added a few pm items that I had forgotten about to the list. Lets just say that my wife was very patient with me that summer.:whoops:

I really like the 351's so far. The gas mileage has improved on the freeway as long as I'm not on a grade. The S/C provides plenty of power to make up for the lack of gears, but I hate having to punch it to get it to move up big hills etc. I might re-gear down the road as funds permit and add an ARB in the the front and either an Aussie or ARB in the rear. So overall, I'm satisfied with the 315's.

Who knows, down the road when I retire the 80 from DD duties and I don't have to worry about parking garages, I might move up to 37's. Nay has been a pretty good at selling me on the idea with his 37" tire posts. :hmm:

Thanks Lane. Actually my rig doesn't look much different than the avatar from that angle/lighting and stock front bumper. I'd like to get a tube bumper from Mike at Bump it Offroad or an ARB from Kurt in the future.

I'd do tube. Everyone and their dog has an ARB. :p

Cool story, very clean truck and I love the two tone paint...something about that combination have always been one of my favorites. The rear bumper too - I'm jealous!

Awesome rig! Great writeup too! What's the dealio with these mudflap tickets? I'm probably moving to UT next year, and would like to know how good I need to be at evading the cops...

Thanks for the comments everybody.

Sorry I didn't answer you question sooner, I was immersed in board studying at the time. :bang:

I'm not sure what the deal is with the tickets, but I've had warnings and many of my friends have been cited. It just seems to be a convenient way for the cops to give tickets. Sometimes you can get away with just a warning, but you might want to just throw one some flaps just in case.
