Hi All,

I have been looking for a way to store water on my roof rack for a quick solar shower. Most of the time here in CA we are camping in decent weather so I don't feel I need hot water per say. I wanted something simple, quick and cheap and be able to be pressurized with my OBA system. I have seen the road shower product and like it but find it way too expensive for what it is @ $350 and they are out of stock till OCT.

I was searching around for something to use today and came up with this little unit. I looked into the plastic piping unit many people have used but a part of my felt like a big plastic pipe on my truck just looks like crap. I also wanted something metal as I know it would heat better.

I found this today and ordered it. Should work perfect. All I will need to do I think is to add a shrader valve to pressurize it. It looks like they use a gas cap for the fill inlet so that should be able to handle some PSI. I plan to sand it down and paint it with black bedliner to help the heating properties. The length is 34 inches long which is the perfect size for the rear of my cruisers rack. It should be nice to have warm water on hand for dishes and a quick shower when needed. My OBA is located in the rear as well so airing it up quickly will be easy. I plan to buy a cheap coil hose from home depot and a water spray nozzle. I am going to try and make it a quick disconnect fitting if possible.

hey noah, of course we want to see pictars! it's always good to see others solutions.
that looks like it should work quite well on a rack. i personally would move the filler neck on to the end so it wouldn't stand proud of the rack sides. think bashin' it shovin' canoes n such on to the rack

should not be a concern for me, don't think the filler neck will get in the way. I have a pop up RTT that will need to be moved forward a bit for this to fit.

Something I learned with our new shower, my wife uses up 5 gals. of water with one shower. She says, no way to reduce usage. I used @ 2 gals. with a quick one, so 5 gals. on the roof might not be enough for a couple showers and doing dishes.
