I have a full-length roof rack (Gobi, see pic below), and I'm looking for a bungee-type cargo net that is big enough to be hooked/secured onto the entire length & width of the roof rack, but with a LOT of vertical play (so you can put objects, boxes, etc on the roof rack, and still have a LOT of length allowing the cargo net to be fastened to the perimeter of the roof rack), then be able to cinch it down at one end, to tighten it, so nothing's loose? Basically big enough for securing large items, but with the ability to tighten & fasten down for securing big and/or small objects.

I looked around, and all I could find online were static sized bungee cargo nets, which may allow a bit of bulge/stretch, but definitely not a lot. And no way to pull the slack out of it either.

Thanks!

Bungee doesn't really have the strength to secure loads on an exterior rack. If it's tight enough to hold the load, it's too tight to get gear under it. The obvious choice would be to learn a few knots like a trucker's hitch. Then you can secure your cargo like a boss. The common option for people who don't want to bother with knots on a rack is ratchet straps. I find the 1" web straps tend to "buzz" when driving at freeway speeds, and it's easy to get carried away with how tight you secure your load. Rope tends to buzz less. When I used to work in a mattress store, I used to sometimes deliver stuff on the side, to earn delivery fees. Rather than tying knots, I used rope ratchets. http://www.amazon.com/s/?tag=ihco-20

Blade, makes sense about the cargo net.

Luke, thanks for the link! The Lynx Hooks are pretty nifty, especially how they hook into one another! I may have found a quick & easy solution! Thanks!
