My craftsman rolling shop stool that I've had for three decades is finally dying.

I was doing the alignment on my 80 this morning and noticed a bunch of ball bearings on the floor. I had also noticed it not rolling well but assumed that it was just catching on stuff on the floor. It wasn't, the bearings in a couple of the casters was grenading. The gas piston hasn't worked in years ether, so it is always on the lowest setting.

Time for a replacement...

Anyone have a favorite rolling shop stool you would recommend?

I have one from Harbor Freight. The gas strut died out after about 10 uses. Wouldn't recommend.

Northern Tool has one I have been eyeballing. After sitting, stooping, crouching, and kneeling last Saturday for the entire day to replace part deemed defective by the State Inspector (all parts were perfectly fine by the way) I vowed to go back and get that stool. Thought Harbor Freight but now may hit Northern

Grab a free old office chair from Marketplace. One with a metal base.

Cut the seat off.

Weld on an old steel tractor seat.

Built one 25 years ago. Still works great, very comfortable.

I like my snap on butt scooter.

I got a free office chair. And cut off the back. But kept the padded seat. More comfy than a steel tractor seat. Worked great. Sold it on CL after a few years...
