anyone able to help this guy? I want a stock rollbar too, but will probably end up getting a local made one or make my own. I suggested finding someone local to make one and the lower response is after that suggestion.

My name is Berto Chavez and I live in Rio Rancho. I just purchased a 1964 FJ40 and was wondering if you may be able to help me locate a roll bar for my cruiser. Hopefully from someone you may know locally or close by. If so, you can contact me Via-email at bchavez-at-bernco.gov or bchavez-at-townofbernalillo.org I am new to the game but am learning a lot about my cruiser. I am looking forward to becoming a member in the near future. Hope to hear from you soon and once again thanks. Berto

I’ll keep searching around and if you might lead me in the right direction to someone local that could build me one that would work too. Once again, Thanks for the info.

Metal Tech I believe makes a standard replacement cage that is all welded together.

:crybaby: I just gave a pristine stock one away a month or two ago because it was taking up space. Sorry, wish I had known you were looking for one. At least it went to help a fellow mudder, though not anyone I previously knew.

I was going to suggest Metal Tech to him, but wondered if someone local could make something too.
Lee, no problem. if you come across something let me know. I just want to make a family cage rear hoop for the 40.

Metal Tech. The end.

The stock roll bar is decorative only. It is really, really thin, and the bends make it collapse-o-matic if you actually end up upside down.

The MT "stock" cage will do a MUCH better job of protecting you, and will look virtually identical. I doubt you could find a local shop who could match the price from MT for a prebent cage--welded together or not. You could easily get someone local to weld it together too.

If you are still e-mailing the guy, either tell him to drop by here, or I'll e-mail him and he can check out the differences if he can catch up with me in the mountains. We've got a stock bar (spoken for) and a MT cage/bar in the shop he can look at next to one another.

Dan
