UPDATE: See post #3 - I think it is fixed.

Hi guys,

After getting everything put back together, my rockbox pops out of gear when I let off the gas. It appears that the fork need to move farther forward. You can see in this picture that it cannot move any more forward.

I say it appears to need to move farther forward because when it pops out it moves back away from the front edge of the case.

This next photo is of the shift rod and fork location when truck is in normal operating mode. Notice the shift rod sticking out of the front. I was surprised when I saw a portion that looks like it hasn't been exposed to the elements. I was also surprised when I saw how close it was to the transmission.

My first thought was to move the fork forward on the shift rod but there is a threaded hole in the shift rod that the set screw goes into. If the set screw is not in that hole it sticks out too far and the cover will not sit flush. I know it was flush the last time I pulled it all apart. I know I could grind down the set screw, but would worry that it isn't right.

I thought the fork may have been installed upside down, but according to the diagram it looks correct. Here is the diagram.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

is the fork 180* out on the shift rod? If so then the fork would never fully mesh the gears and the shift rod would protrude further than usual. Seems this is what the pics show.

Not an expert in any way shape or form but do like to entertain the simple/cheap possibilities first.

Post up what it ends up being.

I thoughout it might be 180 out but it looks to be correct as far as the diagrams shows.

Well I read up on Pirate and I thought I would give it ne more try. They good news is it seems to work now.

There is piece that screws in to the top with a spring and ball bearing that holds the sh!t in gear and I was able to tighten it down a little. Not an easy task with it in place but I got about a quarter turn on it. Should of thought of this in the beginning but frustration got the best of me.

I will drive it for a while and see it it stays in gear, I pushed it pretty hard and it worked tonight. Scary that a quarter turn can make that much difference.

Got my fingers crossed.

Thanks.
