Trying to decide between these 2 colors for the rings. I'll be leaving the rest of the wheel stock. Or recommend a different color altogether. Truck is grey I like the black but feel it may make the center of the wheel look even smaller effectively looking like a taller sidewall. Thanks.
Have you tried to get the rings off yet? That might help in your decision making. Also, have you considered just polishing them, if you were considering a light metal color anyways?
No rings is the best look, IMO. That's what I planned to do before I sold them. I've even seen some pictures where the screw holes were filled with bondo and the whole wheel powdercoated for a smooth look. Pretty sweet, IMO, plus it saves you another pound or so per wheel. But I like the look of small wheels and big tires, so I'd like black rings too. Even better if you could lightly coat the screw heads without gumming them up too much.
If you like the stock look, and you're willing to put some work into it, you could strip the rings, polish and re-clear coat them.
IIRC, they were polished and clear coated. When removing corrosion, you need to sand or grind them down making the surface not so flat anymore. To make them completely flat, you'll have to have them machined down making them thinner. Otherwise, it's just a lot of time hand polishing then clear coating.

I bought a set of Rock Warrior wheels where the PO had the rings painted along with the wheels. I would rather see the rings with their original polished nickel appearance. What’s my best option here? Can I get the paint off without ruining the OG finish underneath?
