Road trip with bad pinging under load, P0171 code (1 Viewer)

Having some car problems on a SW road trip in 100' temps with a car full of camping gear. The P0171 lean fuel trim code came up a few times after climbing big hills. A new air filter seems to have fixed that, I hope, it was really nasty,but I'm getting a lot of pinging under load and lack of power. Any connection? I'm thinking fuel filter next? I've noticed that that has fixed th P0171 code for some. Should I be concerned about the pinging? Temps are under 200' for the most part. Thanks.

What octane fuel are you using. I can purchase 85 octane where I am at. Try better quality/higher octane fuel if the temps are that hot and you are fully loaded.

I switched to 91, which helped a tiny bit maybe. Seems to get worse the longer I drive in a day and the hotter it gets. Hitting I-70 into the Rockies early tomorrow!
