Got the top off and safely in the garage.

Thanks @kc_chevota !

And @1MAC , I plan on washing it again and clear coating. The patina is too cool. And, I will get some better rims. Although yours worked perfectly for strapping down to the trailer- any bigger and it wouldn't have worked. Thanks again

Clr darn auto correct.

The wife and son won't be in town until Saturday morning. If anybody wants to stop over (163 and Quivera) for some beverages and 40 viewing, let me know.

I don't have much going on. I was going to unpack everything but realized the appropriate supervisor is not on site to tell me where things go. So I said screw it and drink early and sleep late.

Also, last night's unloading crew drank all the Arizona beer I brought back, but I'll pick some comparable brews up.

Finally got it plated with an antique tag. The wife and I went to the DMV mid week to get the 4runner, tundra and the 40 legal.

We get to the 40 and the clerk says that she can't find a jeep fj40 in the database. Turns out, when I got it inspected, the lady wrote the wrong make down. The clerk said it wouldn't be a big deal to correct but we had to go back to the inspection office.

I should have proof read the inspection report before leaving while I still had a trailer. Oh well.

We get to the inspection office, and at the urging of my wife, calmly explain the issue.

The 'lady' I talked to said I would need to bring the 40 back in for reinspection.

I told her it didn't run, I would need to rent a trailer to bring it in, and that the Kansas highway patrol should pay for this expense as this is not my screw up.

Things got a bit warm.

She offered to waive the reinspection fee. Mighty nice.

The wife walked out at some point to leave me with this. I do not play well with others that mess up their simple tasks which they are paid to do.

I'm told to go sit in the lobby while they figure things out. I do, and watch multiple employees dink around and not address the issue. After an hour an elderly gentlemen comes in and hands me a corrected inspection report and apologizes for his coworkers.

Once the report is in my hand, I go out to the garage and apologize to the 'lady' I confronted about the whole trailer rental cost thing. I was treated to a death stare. I replied with the finger.

Back to the DMV.

now I need a bill of sale? Okay, can you print one off? Sweet, thanks.

Good thing the seller from Arizona was handily hanging out in the Olathe DMV parking lot.

Nevertheless, I took all the paperwork to the mission DMV to finish the job.

But it's legal now. I haven't touched it since I rolled it into the garage last week. Moving is a pain... and I start work monday. I just don't know when I'll be able to start on it. But I'm anxious!

U will start some stuff on it when I get these cleaned and painted my friend

Cleaner parts, how someone can get stainless tarnished is beyond me. Waiting on correct birf, not really a prob since I have spares but got wrong length with parts pile

Will re blast and paint knuckles, not happy with them. Ordering rotors etc next week need to go thru my parts list for correct hoses to bypass backing plate. Cannot remember what I ordered. Calipers will come from local to avoid core charges.

Evan, knuckle rebuild kit is on the way. we need to touch base after new years to discuss your build and get started on the front axle. probably easiest if you bring the donor axle to my house. we can clean and strip it one weekend. I will paint the donor and knuckles, then we reassemble. I have everything but rotors that fit that era but let me do some research if later pressed rotors will work or not. In the arsenal i have a new master, new upgraded calipers for the front, new soft lines all the way around and new rear calipers and rotors. We will need to goto Kelly's to have the rear rotors machined and order some brackets from Poser for the rear disks. You get that thing started yet?

After the New Year sounds pretty good to me. I also have a donor rear axle if building the rear out of the truck would be easier too.

I can get it to turn over and catch for a few seconds via ether. I dumped some gas in the tank and tried it, but didn't get anywhere. So, I need to look at the carb, fuel pump, and the exhaust as the packrats sometimes fill the muffler with debris and it could be plugged too. Turns out the tank also needs to be replaced - it has a hole. We all woke up one morning with splitting headaches and the entire house smelling of fuel. The wife was super pleased. Good news is I got a used plastic tank sitting in the garage.

up to you my friend. I can get both front and rear axles all cleaned up and painted with disks on them. No need to do hard lines or master until they go on the truck tho.
it is all up to you, if you want to make vroom vroom noises or have the engine do it. I would think hard about a carb or send that one to Jim C. IF it is salvageable. sounds like you have ignition but no fuel delivery system. Tank, carb, pump, hoses, filter and check hard lines. Basically replace or check the whole fuel system and you should be good to go..
I think you should just order a carb. New F & 2F carbs
get it running while i build your front axle.
Either way. we shall get together in January.

I have the a tank out of my '78FJ40. Shannon didn't like the patch I put on it so I bought a new one. Yours for the taking if it'll fit.

Thanks. I'll let you know.

I need to ramp up the progress on this project. The wife is expecting child #2 in July. If I thought I didn't have time to do anything currently, this summer is going to be an eye opener.

Also, if someone could explain to me what causes babies and what causes hangovers, I would be a lot better off in life.

I heard a rumor there is a direct correlation between these.
