This problem may have solved itself. Lead times on teardrops from all the popular companies are at least 12-18 months out. I can't plunk down $25K+ on something, sight unseen, and not have it for that long. Then, I'll have to go get it (CO, UT), no delivery and no local dealers. Argh...

Maybe I'll build one... yeah right.
Maybe look for one slightly used?

I'm not sure about the teardrop market but in general in the travel trailer market they depreciate like mad the first couple years. Plus the brand new ones tend to have issues - they get covered under warranty but people often lose some of their first year with a new trailer dealing with stuff that ain't quite right.

I bought my Lance (which is a step down from Airstream but well above Thor Industries quality) 3 years used, and it was solidly 40-45% off the (negotiated) price for a new one. Similar to the LC, if you figure you're going to beat on it anyway why not save some $ and stash that away for repairs or mods.

The camper market has gone crazy during the pandemic, at least for the small ones.

I've looked a few times, craigslist and FB Marketplace... nothing. People don't sell these things very often. But I see lots of ads from dealers looking for them.

If the camper market is off the rails, I can only imagine how hard it is to get a campsite.

It’s not just the small ones. Since last spring the shop I use has been pretty much cleaned out. Every camper is sold or rented.

if you’re not trying to get a national park or state park campsite, you can still find them. It’s harder but doable. Or if you’re dispersed camping you’re still golden as most new folks tend to stick to established campgrounds and RV parks

yeah I still don't see anyone trying to setup 5 or more miles off the last paved road. Lots of people on the shoulders of forest roads two turns off of the last paved road.

James is badass! I had the fitment issue with my jerry can basket being to close to my rear hatch. Called him up and he said he would make me a bracket and send it out. This is what he sent😛 a while new reworked basket!

What are you all using as a pad between the foot of the swing out and the top of the bumper? I’ve seen a neoprene pop up as an idea but it doesn’t seem like a long lasting solution. I was thinking about using a harder rubber - 1/16” or 1/8” with adhesive backing though my Amazon scrolling hasn’t been terribly productive.

Thinking these are good for up to 200 pounds:

Or if those aren’t sturdy enough maybe these:
Swing arm rest from Aluminess:

Thanks for the suggestions. Something like that swingarm rest was what I initially planned on making but I decided making it from a block in my garage would look sloppy.

update. I finally found time to get the bumper on. Thanks to all those who helped. I feel special knowing that I'm 1 of 2 LC owners with a dual swing out RLC bumper! I will continue to follow this thread to help out anyone I can. Just in time for the snow!

Met @NoClue at LCDC and he helped me diagnosed the CEL on the 200 I bought at Ouray during the event. Just ordered this dual swingout today but requested tire carrier on driver side. I sent James pic of NoClue's rig
