Maybe I should have been clearer in the title of the thread (as I know many of you rock enthusitist probably thought the boards were torn off...)

Anyway, could not find a way to remove the bracket near the rear wheels. I started angle grinding through it and thought maybe I need that part to mount am aftermarket part on to coverup/smooth out the body lines.

I tried several ratchets, impact wrench, box wrench. The nuts are recessed and are very difficult to get at.

What do you guys recommend. Sliders are pointless for me and would do nothing but look nice. The truck is used in heavy snow/ice/ and mud.

I stole this pik from a cruiser I just saw on here, so you could see what I am referencing.

Sawzall? Angle grinder? Leave em?

I don't think those brackets will ever serve a purpose, so I would not hesitate to cut them off with whatever tool you have. If you want to keep the bracket, I think you can take an angle grinder and remove the portion that is interfering with your wrench. If I recall correctly, a ratcheting box end was the best tool for removing those bolts.
 
Having this same issue on my LX450. Did you ever get the bracket off, or did you end up cutting it off?
 
To remove those brackets you will need an offset box wrench. I tried everything else also before I found the tip on previous MUD post. image-3393235959.webp

same problem, incredibly frustrating, used said frustration and hammer to remove since I figured I would never be putting back on.

I ended up using an angle grinder to cut most if it off then bought a dremel and cut off anything else that was visible.

Sears had the metric set of offset box wrenches in stock. They have come in handy for other projects since removing these brackets so they have been a good thing to have in the toolbox.
 
I'm either dramatically misunderstanding the thread or I have a different setup on my 93. The rear brackets were a little goofy but IIRC I got them off with a deep socket, a u-joint, and an extension. No cutting, grinding, mashing, etc. Just rust and dirt in my eyes before I got my head out of my A$$ and quit lying beneath the boards.

Took mine off awhile back. My wife complained twice and that was it. Took them to the dump never to be seen again.
 
Huh. I don't remember that bracket being too tough to take off, put back on, then take off again. I the course of my removals and installation, I used sockets and ratcheting box end from Lowes.
