I liked it and it was a pretty smooth ride. There were a couple of discrepancies that I wanted looked at before I sign off (dash outside temperature reader not working, recirculation fan was loud, and fuel tank was showing full, but it was reading only 200 miles to the tank)
These are the only other two in the area for sale. I like that black one, but it's overpriced.

look west for clean 1 owner, mall crawlers. fly out drive back :)

Honestly, if this would have happened a week-week and a half ago, I'd be all about that. Unfortunately though, my vacation ends next Monday, so it's back to the O.R. I also already saw my new work schedule, and how much on call I'll be taking, so there is going to be no rest for the wicked for awhile.

Ah ok. As someone who lives with someone who has the same work schedule as you - completely understand.

Every time I see this situation it makes my stomach hurt. We love vehicles that are not easily replaced. Glad the family is safe.

Wrapped everything up yesterday.

102,500 miles and a stack of service records. I was hesitant to buy it b/c I don't really care for the AHC, but knowing I can delete it and install L.C
suspension if a problem arises was a piece of mine.

Just dropping by to give an update on things:

This past Saturday, while I was at a guitar show, I received a phone from the insurance company (Liberty Mutual) of the other driver that was involved in this accident. They called me to notify me, that their client admitted to causing the accident and was accepting 100% fault for the accident as well.
Yesterday I recieved a few documented emails from State Farm that I was cleared of all fault in tue accident, and that they were notified by Liberty Mutual that their client was 100% at fault for causing this accident and that they will now being going after him and Liberty Mutual.

Other than that, I have still not heard anything back from the claims adjustment department in regards to the comps that I submitted last week on the settlement for the total loss of my vehicle.

I did however hear from the company that removed my L.C from the salvage yard. They called me to ask me if their was anything in or on the vehicle that I would like mailed back to me. So hopefully I will be seeing the stuff I listed and emailed them here by the end of the week.

Don't forget to bring extra donuts for us 80 series guys. :poof:

UPDATE:

After spending around 6hrs total yesterday on hold, and getting ping ponged back and forth with the total loss department with my insurance company yesterday (State Farm) I finished round two of the settlement offer over the total loss...I politely declined their offer again. They increased the amount they willing to payout by $175.00 and told me it's a take it or leave it offer. The claims adjuster told me that even though I submitted comps, that both him and CCC are taking into consideration the fair market value that is being shown via Auto Trader, and that the comps I have submitted are pretty much irrelevant to everything that is going on with this claim. After I politely declined the offer and explained to him why, he started getting really arrogant with me, and after he was done with his speech, I thanked him kindly and hung up with him.

Two hours later, I get an email from him telling me the ball for this entire situation is in my court. He then proceeds to tell me to keep in mind that if I don't not come to an agreement over this claim soon, that the auction/salvage company who is in possession of my vehicle, can sell my vehicle if they are not able to contact me after a certain amount of time and they do not need my permisson.
He also told me in the email that if this happens, this will also result in reducing my payout substantially, and I will owe the bank the remaining balance.
He then ended the email with that it is truly in the best interest for everyone involved that I try and come to an agreement so that I can have the best possible outcome from this entire situation.

Sad thing about all of this, is that this is my insurance company...the ones who are supposed to be protecting me...smh!

Right??? It's almost like instead of protecting and supporting you (like they pretend to claim), insurance companies are actually greedy money-grubbing fraudsters that take your money and try to screw you at every opportunity...Sorry you have to deal with this BS, but don't give up the fight. They OWE you a proper settlement, whether they like it or not! Best of luck!

Personally I have repeatedly heard horror stories about state farm (katrina) and would never use them for insurance. I had good experiences with Amica and recommend them to people with good credit. Years ago they were rated #1 by consumer reports. State Farm and all state to me seem like insurance companies who disappear when you need to cash in.

Amica paid me in 3 days more than what my car was worth more than once.

I think it totally depends on the area. I have been using State Farm since 1975, and have been very happy with them.

Hit a deer with my '12 Miata in 2020, they had no problem using OEM parts for the repair, and didn't even flinch when I asked about having the car ceramic coated again. The body shop I used will ONLY use State Farm, none of the others.

UPDATE:
I hope everyone has been doing fine, and that you are all getting excited to spend the upcoming holiday's with loved ones.
Work has been extremely busy, but I was just dropping by to let you all know, I got made whole on the total loss of my Land Cruiser about a month ago.

After my last update, I ended walking away from the whole situation for two weeks. Then late in the afternoon on Friday the 13th in October, I gave it one last "good faith" effort.
I made the call, and listened to the total loss agent give me their whole speech about my vehicle. After they were done, I politely told them that I couldn't accept their offer, and that I would like to speech to a supervisor. I also asked them to notate my account that when I call in from here on out, that I will not talk to anyone over this matter, unless they are a supervisor.
This agent connected me to a supervisor, and I was very polite with the supervisor during our conversation. I asked him if he would put in a request to CCC to have them re-evaluate my original review on my vehicle, along with the comps that I submitted.
I mentioned to him there were errors on the report on their end. The manager told me that he would put the request thru, but not to get my hopes up.
I then started asking the manager questions about "statute of limitations ", and I started asking for paperwork to be emailed to me for my records. He complied with my requests, but I think asking all these questions, kinda made them think I was going to proceed down another path to get this matter resolved, because not even 30 minutes after the phone call with the manager. I get a phone call from an total loss agent who who is all the sudden a part of a specific team that works strictly alongside CCC and that they are a "Toyota Land Cruiser " expert when comes to dealing with the value of these "specific " vehicles, and that they also know the cult following of these vehicles. It took her 15 minutes to make things right, and instead of owing $2,5k, they paid the vehicle off, and put a little bit of compensation in my pocket for my troubles.
Like I mentioned, this all happened on a Friday afternoon right before 5pm, and the vehicle was completely paid off that following Tuesday morning. I'm sure I could have gotten more out of them, but I wasn't trying to be greedy over the whole matter. I just decided to call it good since I wasn't going to have to pay anything out of pocket for the cruiser.

Now I have to move on to the next hurdle, and that is getting my "out of pocket" expenses back from the insurance company, of the person who admitted fault to the accident. Since fault was admitted, his insurance company, has is not wanting to cooperate with what is going on, and pretty much told my agent & I, that if their is any funds left over after the subrogation process, they will reimburse me.

One thing everyone in this situation should consider is leveraging one of the legal firms that specializes in auto insurance claims. They will bring in their own adjuster and will get a much better valuation. Many charge a flat fee for the end to end service.
