When I brake/have my foot on the brake a very unpleasant ringing tone sounds off no pattern to it. It's not very loud and it's coming from the rear of the car. Checked the brakes and they are fine. Sounds electrical so checked all my wiring for sound and it doesn't seem to be that. Weird b/c usually engine noise would be from acceleration if that's what it is. Until i have some more time to look around I'm at a loss....any help?

Any chance a portion of your exhaust is resonating unusually loudly ?

Beo , is that your way of telling me there's a fat chance of the exhaust being involved ?

Ty - If I remember correctly, you posted a few months back about losing a cell phone in a heater vent under the seat of a car? ..... maybe that was what Beo was talking about? :D

Any chance you are grounding out with the brakes and its a sound coming through the speakers on your stereo? I had this happen on another truck and it drove me crazy! I had a wire grounding out and when I hit the breaks you could hear it in the stereo, pain to track down, but found the offending wire and it stopped. Something to check out.

Nope .. you aren't remembering correctly . ;p

But I like the grounding idea ... 'splains the sound (if it is coming thru the speakers) .

No T Y L E R, it was just a feeble attempt at humour. I have no clue what it could be but 'ya know... ringing... cell phone.... seemed plausible.

I"m running sound, but it doesn't seem to be coming from any of the speakers...I need to check little more, but thank you and I'll keep you all posted

now back to business

If you have brake pads with "Tell Tales" (A thin piece of metal that rubs on the rotors) and makes a tingling sound it there for a audible indication to take a look at the brake pads as they are nearing end of life.

If you have already done this sorry bout the eggs

Hmmmm, I'll have to try and figure out who that was, sorry to try and pin that one on you :D
I just remember reading it and thinking it was pretty funny (since it didnt happen to me that is).

If its not coming through the speakers, could it be something as simple as the wear indicators on your brake pads? If you havent checked those, I would start there, and even though you hear it coming from the back, I would check them at all 4 corners.
