Has anyone seen or knows approx. cost to spray the entire car w/ Rhino Lining? It is a produce similar to Line-X, the stuff used to line the truck bed. It seems to provide a lifetime protection for the body and not having to worry about paint and dents and chipping...

Also consider that it can be very heavy and hard to clean. One of the more popular products on here is monstaliner, and it rolls on so no risk of overspray and you can pick from a wide array of colors. I am actually putting of doing my rockers in monstaliner, as they really need attention for a number of reasons.

After our truck was beaten up by a tornado in 2015, I considered Rhino lining or Line-X. After calling around to several places I finally got someone to give me a rough quote of 4-5k provided I do all of the prep work stripping trim, lights etc from the body.
A couple days later I saw a Chevy Tahoe that had been fully lined and I hated how it looked.
I opted to do a full repaint... But I did have the bumpers sprayed by a local guy with product similar to the name brand bed liner, I think it came out looking great!

That's pretty cool looking on just the bumpers. I saw a Rhino demo where they coated a watermelon and dropped it from 45 meters, it just bounced and the shell was completely in place. How much did it cost for just spraying the bumpers if you don't mind me asking?
It was ~$275 if i remember correctly, this included a top coating of UV resistant material to prevent the chalky look. I provided the shop just the bumpers off the vehicle. I removed all ancillary parts, scuffed up the paint with scotch-brite and used a primer suitable for plastics on areas where the paint had been worn through from parking lot skirmishes. It's important that there is good paint prior to coating as the liner materials don't adhere well directly on plastics. it's been over 2 years since I had this done and there have been no issues with bubbling or peeling; they look just as good as the day I picked them up.

Imagine trying to clean a sheet of 120 grit sandpaper with a wool car wash mitt....That’s what it will be like every time you wash your truck if you coated the entire exterior.

Think I'm going to a local Maaco and get a quote for just the hood and roof top, where I'm getting clear coat chipping. I noticed they have three grades too, so I'm planning to get the mid or the premium for durability. I know some are weary of Maaco paint job's quality, but they do offer one of the best values, so hopefully they will do a good job as this is not the entire car.
That’s a horrible idea... but it’s your truck and your money.
And just think, once you Rhinoline the entire outside of the truck you won't see the rust eating away at the truck from the inside out.
Macao has different quality options.
They will do whatever you want based on your budget, full blown top notch quality or bottom dollar it only needs to look for from afar paint jobs.

Those coatings don't prevent rust - they hide it... 'til it's a much (!) bigger problem

Those bumpers look fantastic! I went to Line-X for a quote on doing the two bumpers and the trim in black, and they wanted $800 (in Cedar Park, north of Austin, TX). Needless to say, I will need to figure out an alternative...
At least they responded to you. I have written them a couple times to try and get a quote to lining my custom tailgate cover. I guess it's not big enough of a job to warrant a response
Thanks for the approval! Like I said, this wasn't a name brand product, just a guy in a local shop (On-Site Hitch; Rowlett Texas 214-794-0771). I just called him to ask if there are any shops in the Austin area that use the same product and as luck would have it, he actually gets his materials from an Austin based company. He recommended Georgetown Bedliners 512-572-0771, Call and ask for Brandon, let him know Richard from On-Site hitch sent you.
I did inquire about having the side moldings done since I already had them off the vehicle. He was reluctant to do them since the coating needs to wrap around the edge of the trim and this would interfere with the application of the double sided tape. I ended up using rattle can bedliner that others on this site have used, and lets just say I won't ever do that again. It bubbled off in places, and the texture was inconsistent. I ended up dropping 1k on all new pieces but changed to the part numbers that are xxxxx-xxxxx-K2 variant. This gives it a unique look as well since this trim never came on the white trucks. My suggestion on this is to consult with a local body shop about painting just the trim on the vehicle, Many here have done that and gone to a color matching the body which also looks really good! From what recall reading getting that paint done would be in the 300-400 range.
Now to sum things up, i don't think the line-x quote is horrible, me = 275 on bumpers and others 3-400 on painted trim comes really close to that $800, especially if that extra 1-200 covers the labor and materials involved in masking up and or removing installing anything...
Another poster mentioned rough texture, and cleaning it would be like using your wash mitt on 120 grit sandpaper. Depending on the product and application this is certainly true. My '02 Tacoma has line-x and it truly is like sand paper. As for the coating on my cruiser bumpers, it's got texture, but the space between peaks and valleys is much much greater. I have not had any issues with dirt settling in, and when cleaning with the wash mitt it never snags fibers. I'll try to post a close-up of it in the next couple days. Whatever shop you go with just ask to see what one of their finished products texture looks like, hopefully they'll have something in the shop that was just done for you to see.

I got my roof coated last summer. It makes the truck noticeably quieter, a little cooler, and it took care of an aging sunroof for me. Line-X premium, $400.
I don't know about other people, but my truck has never been hand washed by me, only at the wand wash self service places. It's a beast of burden, not a show pony!
