CruzerDave is that the finished product?

I have been thinking about this retro 100 [FJ100?] concept a lot. I conclude that the packaged Japan option is cost prohibitive. I also note that other car cultures all do retro mods. There is nothing proprietary about the concept or the mocked up photos. I think 4 design elements make it work. 1) The wheels 2) the FJ headlight facia / surround 3) Retro matte colors. 4) The headlights themselves.

1) Wheels - good info on this board. I would paint them a cream / white
2) Headlight / grill facia - I have thought of 3 ways to do this ...
a) Have a fab shop make piece(s) to replace everything from the outer marker lights, around the front to the other side. I haven't contacted these guys.... but they are here in Seattle and I (could) iterate with them. They give you the free software to capture the dimensions. Curves may be trickier. Front Panel Express: Front Panel Design Software and CAD Conversion Service: The Idea
b) A second way would be to go to a local metal shop and have then fabricate the whole outside with 3/4 tubular steel and infill with any grill material you want. Powder coat it / plast-idip /chrome - whatever you want. Add Toyota emblem or even have them cnc it into the grill material. You'll see a lot of this going on with 4x4 truck (ford/dodge/gm) sites. Why not use one of those shops to do a FJ style?
c) a third way (more form the custom car / speaker nut world) would be to take your current grill / light enclosures and fiberglass up a whole new piece with cutouts for headlights and the grill. If I had a donor set of corner light enclosuers / grill - I would attempt this with boat building supplies I have in the garage.
3) Paint: I would like to do a two tone on the body lines to mimic the fj55...but using modern colors like the Toyota concrete on the bottom and a cream/white on top. (wheels to match)
4) Headlights. There are dozens of options online for 7 inch round headlights at every price point. I'd go with integrated turn signals and something that dosent look too futuristic. Seems to be a big trend for jeeps.

Anyhow.. just a few thoughts after 3 cups of coffee. My point is there are many ways to skin this cat and the look / feel can be achieved by boworing processes from other car cultures.

Here's the only front end shot of @kellysaad Grille & headlights that I got at the event. His fitment was amazing and the parts were spectacular. I'm hoping to run down to flagstaff and get a Grille off him as soon as my rig quits acting up!
