Pretty solid success with my cab lights. The overhead dome works every time now, but the cargo dome is pretty finicky. I narrowed it down to the switch only makes intermittent contact. Not critical enough for me to keep after it.
After a new cat, a rebuilt smog pump, an oil change and one more adjust on the valves and the carb, I dumped a gallon of denatured alcohol into the tank and took it into a smog station.
It's been at least 10yrs since it passed a smog. I was hoping to get back a detailed list of where I was missing from the report so I could post up here and ask for help.
When he announced that it passed I replied with a startled "It passed?!?!" Loud enough that everyone in the waiting room laughed.
And not by a little, she passed all the metrics by a LARGE margin! Just need to get her insured and registered and I'm good to start driving.
Unbelievable sigh of relief. Living in CA there is always that worry in the back of your mind that the vehicle may NEVER be legal, in which case you have a very expensive piece of yard art.
This means that no matter what, this truck is getting back on the road.

I told my wife that I needed to log some miles on the 60 to work out any bugs before my son starts using it as a DD. So I've been commuting to/from work, and just driving it in general.
Hopped in to take the littles to school before work and the clutch pedal had to go almost all the way to the floor before I could shift. I put about 1 mile on the truck before turning around to grab the '80.
