Restored my mud flaps this weekend! Clean, heat gun, paint!

What did you clean them with acetone? What kind of paint?

Nice job on the flap restoration!

A little tip. When painting raised lettering like this, you can save some time by masking off surrounding areas and lightly rolling the paint onto the letters using a small nap or foam roller with minimal pressure and don't load up the roller with paint. Two light coats is better than one runny one.

Did the rear mud flaps come with the white lettering? Mine don't appear to have any left if that is the case.

IIRC some models came with the raised white lettering. My '94 did not. It's a personal choice - I prefer the blacked out lettering. OP likes them white.

Mine is a '94. Probably why mine are black. Both look good, not sure which I prefer.

Very slick! I might need to do this as well since my new front flaps are so much darker than the old rear pieces. Love the white lettering too! I believe FJ60s had white lettering.

When I bought my 80 I trimmed the rear flaps right below the lettering. Tore them loose the first time I wheeled it. Took them off the next day!
