Researching lift options and have a couple questions

/giggle, i see you're still spinning on which lift to go with.

I read you were sticking with 16's but were adding ATs. With a sidewall similar to what you have now, just imagine your rig 1.5 or 2.5 inches higher. It really isn't that much. Alignment aside, the difference is just one inch, so I don't think you're going to notice a drastic change either way.

Will you keep the running boards? If so, that lessens the appearance of a higher lifted truck (1 or 2. 5'') simply because you have less gap between the rockers/boards and the ground. The new ATs will be more of a "image" changer....IMO

have fun :hillbilly:

agree...getting rid of those running boards will remove the illusion of lower height when nothing has changed physically except their removal.

How much weight are we talking about? If it's in the 'not much' category, strongly consider spacers to preserve the ride. Again, I'll be watching closely spressomon's 1" BL. That plus spacers would be a nice pairing.

I should have mine installed after my hi lift arrives in the mail;)

Hahaha. I told you I'm very indecisive. I like to consider myself thorough.
I'm goingbto keep my 16" wheels and put 285-75-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on. They are slightly taller than yours. I do plan on ordering the Slee sliders when I order the bumper tomorrow.

sweet - lift, tires, AND a bumper... you're gonna have a sweet set up. You're gonna be happy either way in terms of a lift.

The sliders will provide more ground clearance while adding more to a visually aggressive stance.

With more sidewall, and considering kids and alignment performance, and eventually slee sliders, perhaps the 1.5'' is what you're after.

BBQ, I had the same issue that you did. I did not want to go too big with my 100 as I felt I had gone too big on my Lexus to be practical.

I just bought an 06 and am installing a Slee 1.5" kit in it Monday 10/31. Camelback Toyota in Phoenix will be doing the work. It will be a one day transformation. I am going with OME T/B's, diff drop, Nitro Chargers & 865's in the rear w/275/70r18 BFG AT's.

I wanted to keep my ride practical as well because I plan to take it all around the southwest and I needed a rig that was modest off-road but could also handle the highways.

Check out my most recent post if you would like to follow along. I had searched and searched as well and 4Peanut put up a photo of just what I am looking to do. Lots of research went into this decision. I will have several before and after photos on Monday.

Is it possible to fit 295/70R18 tires on an OME 1.5" lift? Or do you need a 2.5" lift?
Pictures?

Yes they should fit just fine but it will depend on which tire manufacture you are going with. I am running the Nitto Trail Grappler 295/70R18, OME bars and 865 rear springs.

Which 35's and how much rub did you get or trimming did you have to do?

They are actually officially 34.6" Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70/18 (but they measure just a hair short of 35"). They rubbed a little on full lock where slight G-forces were in play (i.e. turning sharply into a parking lot). Adding a lift after that did not change a thing as far as rubbing was concerned. I could have adjusted the turn stops out a little but I knew a full lift was coming so I didn't do it. It was only after I installed 1.25" spacers and Carl's UCAs that the issue was completely corrected.

You do have to trim the wheel well plastic a slight bit and grind down the pinch weld underneath but that is a given for larger tires with this vehicle. In summation, I could have easily run these tires with very minor modifications on a bone stock 100.

Here are some pictures of how it looked in a couple stages for reference:

33s - 285 BFGs on 16s - no lift (ran this for about 2 months)

35s - 295/70/18 Nitto Trail Grapplers - no lift

So you did install the spacers. How come 1.25 and not the 1-inch ones? Is this what Carl recomended?

I looked around and there is no true consensus on the matter so I split the difference between the most popular sizes. If you look on Slee's site (he gets some of his spacers from Carl), 1.25 is the only option so I figured it was a safe bet. Carl's spacers a great build quality and the lug nuts self-center on the studs. I took my time and slowly torqued them all down in a star pattern doing about 8-10 stars per wheel to ensure that they were centered correctly and I have not had any alignment of vibration issues. I also used blue thread lock on them to to keep them tight.
