Drew, not to get into a pissing match but if you read his sig, 33's are mentioned there, just basing my info on that. Since it's been done with 33's, open diffs, no sliders, stock rear bumper (albeit with a tow hitch) and zero body damage. The trick to the crack with open diffs is taking it as far to the left as you can near the outcrop, drop one tire in bump the next up, slowly move the rears into postion and right before one drops, bump it across and bob's your uncle your over. Not somewhere you want to be by yourself, but thats been done before too. I used the hot tub as an example of some of the questionable things that I'll try and who knows, maybe some people reading this are the same way. So I'll answer the question at hand too:

Mods for Moab to run most trails with no fear of sheetmetal modification:
1. Sliders
2. 33s
3. Rear bumper or tow hitch
4. 2.5 lift

Mods for Moab to run most trails ( except Pritchett, Cliffhanger, and any of the BFE type stuff):
1. Choosing the right line
2. Knowing when to bump
3. Confidence
4. Low tire pressure
5. 33 inch tires
6. Happy, smiling face

It's all cool erf-it looks like we basically agree! We have a guy who posts in the 80s section who doesn't believe in armor and his rig shows it. (see posts and pics by Mickey Rubicon).

I love Moab, but since it's an 800 mile drive home, we do have to be respectful of the possibility of breakage and the like. I also agree that there is no substitute for experience.

This thread has been great full of good information, just found out I am moving so I will be further away from moab next year. But more money so maybe I will be better equipped. From what I am reading and knowing my own abilities. It sounds Like there is a lot for me at MOAB. I have been driving off road since I got my first TOY (90 v6 extd cab bigger torsion bars turned up 31x10.5s adda leafs in rear, modified intake and computer) I did some crazy stuff in that truck and some things I tried and could not do I have done in the 60 one hill inparticular rocky steep bouncy kinda hill, the 60 made it half way up in 2lo, put in the hubs started in the middle and made it no problem, I trtied 4 times with no weight in the back of the xtd cab and never made it all the way.
Thanks to all and yeah more pictures of 60's would be cool

Uh, how deep is the water in that there hole???

About 24 inches. That hole looks much worse than it is. The other hot tub is almost not drivable without a buggy or something similar.

actually these photos illustrate the point perfectly. They have lifts, tires, and armor.

JEEZZZZ!!!! Looks like a hell of a lot of fun!!!!!
Thanks for posting.
Itd be nice to have a "wild wheeling pic" thread on the 60's like they have in the 80's section.
Gets me psyched!

Man, I wanna go wheelin! Hopefully this weekend:bounce2:

Chicago

I'll see if I can get my girlfriend to email some pictures of our last trip down there, she's at home in Montana and I'm stuck in California with only the pics recently taken on my camera, might be a while though.

Actually, I couldn't make it out, my tow hitch was acting like an anchor, so I had to back out which was pretty exciting too. Meanwhile about 5 jeeps with lots of money in them were parked above heckling me, when I got out I asked them who's next and no one wanted to try, go figure. I'll try it again some other time now that I'm a little taller, hehehe.

hahaha heepsters bla bla bla!!!! yeah that hot tub seems a little hard to get out but maybe now that you're SOA will be easier. were you locked at that time? how hard was getting out of that? i mean how much work for the engine?

Open diffs, backing out wasn't too bad as far as revs go, once I found the right line, there is a large ledge on the driver's side that would pitch me almost onto my driver's door each time I tried to back out, finally figured out to turn opposte of the way it wanted to pitch me and it popped right out. The other end seemed like it needed some good tire spin to get up but that could have been my bumper holding me up. Since then, I've seen pics of buggies rolling over on their tops trying to get out, so maybe I won't try it again, then again.... Lot's of fun though.
