Reputable companies for long block?

Hi,

I’m now looking at my options for a motor for my 3fe LC. Depending on the severity, if the block needs to be resurfaced I might just buy a new rebuilt 3fe and swap that in. That was I would have a new motor.

I’ll also be calling some local shops to see what they would charge.

Over heated the motor when my cooling system broke.

What are some recommendations for decent companies to buy a long block from? There are quite a few that come up with a G search.

If I was in CA, I'd be calling @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids for advice. Or see if @FJ60Cam wants to try a 3FE hot-rod.

I don’t think that engine ( shirt or long block ) is anvailzble new from Toyota anymore.

We can offer a couple of different options. We have a rebuildable cores, a good running, used engine, and a new OEM short block in stock.

Given how stout 3FEs are, I would find a solid, used engine, drop it in and cruise off with no worries....

Depends on the cost of said used engine. I plan on keeping this as long as my state overloads will let me keep it. So a new engine would be good piece of mind. The current motor has 240k.

After having a week to digest. Im think just have the head gasket fixed and be done. It’s not worth it to spend $8,000+ on a new rebuild long block.

Im still on the fence though. My neighbor offered to help me rebuild my current one, possibly up the HP/torque if it’s an option. I need to figure out cost of having rebuilt myself.

Im also trying to sort out the cost of having a shop replace my HG, or I tackle it myself.
