I'm working the same lists as pretty much everyone else. I'm looking for a balanced AT tire that's good on road, rain, and snow, but still capable and durable offroad. Any comments on this current thinking?

1) Nitto Terra Grappler G3 - I had great luck with 2 sets of TGs, chosen as an AT good in rain and snow, but the TG G3 isn't out in my 295/75 16, and it looks like there are now better options at the same price.
2) BFG AT T/A KO3 - I think this has better durability, traction, and other stats than the TGs, but it leans towards being more aggressive and is louder.
3) Toyo OC AT3 - I think this has better treadwear and traction stats, claims to be quieter, better road handling, maybe better MPG, and it seems a good balance.

I think I'd pick the Toyo AT3 for good on-road handling with small sacrifices off-road, but I keep stumbling across reviews saying the AT3 is actually louder than the KO3. I don't want to give up the more aggressive KO3 threat if I'm not getting quiet road miles in exchange.

Is there anyone who's gone from the AT3 to the KO3 that can talk to the comparable noise levels and on-road handling, etc? I know that some of the reviews I'm reading are likely someone's first AT tire, slapped onto their Subaru.

Any reason you aren’t considering the Falken Wildpeaks? My personal experience is quite good.

I've been a BFG fan for years - on Jeeps and Toyotas. Like, if I buy another set, I expect BFG to call and thank me. I'm on my 4th set of KO/KO2s on the 100 - around 155,000 miles. I LOVE....D them. Yeah - loved. Past tense. Because of the set of BFG KO2s I put on a 4Runner I bought recently. Those are C-Rated and the truck is BUTTER smooth. Now, my 100, rolling on the 10-ply E-Rated bricks is comparatively really rough.

So, I'm done with BFGs for the 100. Instead of starting the shopping with the size, I'll start with the load rating. Okay, it's a blend. I'm willing to go a little bigger/wider... even to a different wheel size. But, I'm not putting E-rated tires back on the 100.

I'm about 1,000 miles into the new Cooper Road & Trail AT, and they seem nice. Haven't tried them in anything other than wet & dry asphalt, but the tread & siping encourages me about winter traction here in the northeast.

not a fan of BFGs. They seem to chunk and fall apart more than comparable tires.

big fan of Wildpeaks. Great in snow, rain, ok in mud, still pretty quiet.

the Toyos are sweet but I always consider them a bit more "street" leaning than the BFG or Falken

if you don't mind going a bit more aggressive, I'm a huge fan of Cooper ST Maxx even though it's an old design at this point. Tough as nails sidewalls. Fantastic in snow.

and please please don't get DuraTracs

I've always thought of the Falken as heavy load, heavy duty tires, but I'll give these some more research. I do see more than a few good reviews, but these may not be available in my preferred 295/75 16s.

The Wildpeak is a more 1:1 competitor to BFG from Falken. Ineos worked with BFG for their Grenadier. The KO2 has been fairly old, Wildpeak taking over more and more business, so BFG tested their new developments on the Grenadier to get marketshare back ;)

These new toyos are interesting.

I have these tires in 295/70R18 on BBS forged wheels. They have more aggressive tread than the AT's and are heavier. They are not too loud like the mud terrains but you do hear them at slow speeds just like the AT's. Wet traction seems to be good but haven't driven them in snow yet.

White letters out is coming back in style lol

My old LX came with AT2 and travelled 20,000km across Canada & western USA including Moab.
Quiet on the HWY, did very well on all terrains except deep mud going uphill, so I put AT2 35s on my now 100. +17mpg HWY on 50psi.

Cheaper than BFG and Nitto too. No experience with other brands, but if I need replacement, I will go AT3 based on good experience.
