Hi all,
Looking to replace my starter contacts and plunger in the near future on my 99 LC.
Can anyone verify if the part numbers 28226-50080, 28226-50070 for the contacts and 28235-54380 for the plunger are correct? Also I figured I'd pick up the manifold to head gasket... 2x 1717150020. Anything else I need parts wise?

Finally does anyone have the pages for the FSM

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Chris

Chris,

Go to partouq.com and enter your vin. Then go to part diagrams and look for starter. You can find all the part numbers you need there.

Yours is a 2000, which is a crossover year. Pre-3/2000 has a different starter than post-3/2000. The contacts you used are for later model 2000, which won’t work on a 1999 starter (assuming it’s the original from the factory).

Did you guys reuse the manifold gaskets or replace them?
I reused mine. When you see it you'll see that it is totally reusable, baring some physical damage or an inability to get it clean.

Job got done today. Took about four hours with two people. Changing the contacts and plunger were handled by my buddy who has probably done 5000 of them (family business was reman starters and alternators). The starter wasn’t original, it was a Toyota stamped reman. Old plunger was not correct for the starter (friend noticed this immediately) and was chewed up pretty bad. Overall, not fun. If this was a $400 dealer job (plus parts) I’d have paid it. The fact that my local dealer priced out labor at $1000 made it worthwhile despite the damn driver side starter bolt.
