Seen not too long ago the company Real Steel was for sale. It showed right on their website the company was for sale.

Has anyone ever seen a cool cruisers 3/4 tub?

The pics online are not great but it looks like it has holes for things like the hardtop but I am not sure .

I'm a the same cross-road in my rebuild.

I need a 3/4 tub and can go Real Steel and rebuild what I have (about $3600 USD ($4500 CDN); CCOT ($10,500 USD); Aqualu ($4800 CDN); Gozzard ($6000 CDN for tub and cowl). I am not buying a Columbian tub. The reviews on this website are not encouraging, even after hours of fitting of adjustment.

Looking at the numbers, Aqualu is the easy choice. I installed a Gen 1 Aqualu tub years ago and it was pretty easy. Plus the fit and finish on the newer ones is supposed to be much better.

Only downfall being on the east coast is shipping but cheap options seem to be around!

FYI $800 USD to central Maine from BC, this was Aqualu's direct quote. Got it through cruiserparts who matched this quote. cruiser solutions quoted $1200.

Interesting. Aqualu quoted me just under $600 CDN to crate and ship from BC to Nova Scotia, as long as I was prepared to go to the Dartmouth terminal to pick it up. For our friends in the USA, it may be an option to ship to a Canadian address then go and get it yourself. I know folks in Maine who ship to Moncton, NB for that reason.

I sure did. In fact, I used to live not far from Gozzard and know what an excellent reputation they have. For me, I've never worked with fiberglass in any significant way, but have loads of experience with steel and aluminium fitting and repairing. For this reason, I've chosen to go with metal.

EBI in Canada has reasonable prices on FJ40 body panels, and I believe they source tubs too. They told me they were working on getting a few pallets of materials ordered. It didn't work with my time frame, but otherwise their prices were tempting enough that I probably would have gone with them.

I ended up buying metal from Real Steel. It was delivered very quickly, and the quality is good.

I know the Heritage tubs from CCOT are great quality, but $10k for a 3/4 tub is over the top for me. It's too bad we can't get similar pricing to the (Ch)eep tub options.

I wonder since Aqualu is a Canadian company shipping from BC to Nova Scotia would be through Canada and not crossing the border into US, isn't there a tariff or transfer fee? I would think that if I was to cross the border into Canada with an empty trailer and returned with a 3/4 tub on the trailer I'd get slapped with some kind of fee or tax.

A tariff no you wouldnt get anything like that. The only fee you would likely be charged is a sales tax depending on where you crossed. For me im 1.5hrs from the MT border so i usually have my stuff shipped there then drive down and pick it up. Only even been charged my provincial sales tax bringing stuff back. No duty on most auto parts
