I found this Camry double din Toyota radio model 86120-2B680 radio. Does anybody know if it will fit in my 80?

What do the plugs on the back look like?

If it is out of a 92-97 it will bolt right in. I had to get a 15 dollar wiring harness adapter that worked pretty slick, but that was for an aftermarket radio. The stock raio is almost identical and has a lot of the same problems as the cruiser radio. the plug on the back should be the same, but if not, an adapter is easy to come by.
Good luck,
Dan

Thanks Dan, appreciate the insight.

I recall someone using a Scion unit as a near drop-in replacement...but don't recall the details.

I just did a Scion swap tonight. Plugs right in to the stock harness and unplug the stock amp behind the glove box. Sounds great for the price.

If I recall, Toyota harnesses are the same after '86.

Just found this.

Here it is. I haven't trimed the face plate here. It is just sitting loosely.

Hey Victor,
When the search button starts working again, there are some posts that include me, Darwin and I think Gumby and CDan about what Toyota radios work. My crappy memory just doesn't work as well anymore.

Locked97, do you have to do anything special in addition to unhooking the amp? Aren't the speakers wired to the amp? I like how it looks. I've been looking hard for a stock Toyota head unit that is satalite radio ready. Any more info you can provide on the install would be greatly appreciated!

I installed the scion radio in my 95. I trimed the side of the radio to fit. I used the set of grey conectors and unpluged the amp and it works like a champ. I also installed the OEM XM satelite box to it. It is awesome

FJ pretty much summed it up. On mine one of the grey connectors was taped back and not used. So instead of the stock (1 white & 1 grey) setup I used both of the grey connectors and left the white one off. Full sound in all speakers. I like the ability to change the sound curves between the xa, xb and tc settings. Now if I can find the OEM sat. setup for a sweet deal.....

FJ, where did you score your Sat. setup?

Can't you just buy one of the Sat units at like Best Buy and connect it to the radio? If not, what exactly should I be looking for on eBay. By the way, thanks for all the help guys.

Ebay - $210 brand new. Cheaper than the dealer

Nice, I haven't really looked yet but that is where I got the HU and the ipod controller for $86 total.

I think that SCION headunit would look nicer if the big ass silver button was black. But it's cool nonetheless...

The OEM Sat. is Toyota specific and plugs in directly. You have to have an adapter to use a universal one. I can't recall right now which ones work but I know there are at least two.
