I ordered the O2 sensors, the newer EGR modulator valve and a bunch of hoses from CruiserDan(very courteous and prompt service with EXCELLENT prices), and the 80 runs BEAUTIFULLY NOW!! No more hesitation off the line, no more sporadic idle at lights or startup. At startup it hits about 1200 and drops right down to 800, and then 600 in gear. The 80 is noticeably more responsive now as well. All in all I'm very pleased. Even more exciting is that my dad is going to sell me the 80 at a much discounted rate as I badly need a daily driver and he wants to put my brother in a more gas-friendly vehicle. :D So I will soon be joining the ranks as an 80 owner :D

I replaced both O2 sensor even though the codes showed only one was bad. I noticed that one was a white color and one was a black color. What would this indicate about the two banks of cylinders? I don't recall off hand which was which, but the pigtails are different, so I can figure it out. I will try to post pics tonight or tomorrow for further diagnosis. Thanks

Ary

P.S. Under moderate to hard acceleration I'm getting what I *think* sounds like slight valve clicking, but it could be something else. It's faint and you need the windows down to really hear it.

Glad to hear you got the rig running well.

Cruiser Dan rocks!

The different colors tell you nothing about the two banks of cylinders, because you only have one bank. It's a straight six engine. Pop the hood for a look once again....

Even if you had two banks, those sensors are in line with each other, so they still wouldn't do that.

:banghead:

Thank you for reminding me that I'm a complete idiot :D I knew it was a straight six, my Jeep has a straight six, and I'm very aware that they don't have two banks of cylinders. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I meant what does it say about the cylinders that dump into the two seperate pipes?

Edit: My O2 sensors are not inline with eachother. I have two seperate cats on two seperate pipes, and there is one O2 sensor in front of each cat.
