this type of glutinous sitting near the rad cap. Ill do a flush but in the mean time would anyone know what would cause this? Seems to have a gold flake mixed in the gel.

Head gasket is the likely culprit on a 1FZ-FE. Trans cooler could be leaking into radiator also, oil cooler could also be leaking.

What year rig?

What does the underside of your oil cap look like?

Are you using Toyo red coolant or green? Have you or the PO ever mixed the two?

You can conduct a block tester on your radiator and/ or do an oil analysis to see if the HG is the culprit.
 
1995 and the cap is clean. The coolant system was replace within a year but I've only owned it for a little over a month. When I drained the rad all was red with no sign of mixture.
 
either way, it needs flushed and hopefully you don't have to get a new radiator. drain it and fill it with water then run it and do it all over again. then fill it with distilled water anf pour some prestone rad flush in it. let it run for a bit until it warms up and let it sit for a few days. don't forget to turn the heaters on to cycle the whole system. do one last flush not forgetting the block plug on the drivers side and fill it with coolant.
 
I would wager that the PO put gasket repair in it.

Yep, that is cooling system leak stop gunk, didn't mix it well before putting it in. It's easy to flush out, water works, hopefully it "fixed" the leak before removing?

Just to repeat this again.

Looking at the underside of your Oil Cap is NOT even remotely a test for a bad head gasket. All it will tell you is that condensation has occurred within the valve cover. If the truck is driven regularly, the engine brought up to temperature, all of the moisture within the confines of the crankcase will flash off and it will not condense there, UNTIL THE ENGINE COOLS AGAIN. All it shows is condensation and that can come from the ambient air around it.

Please do not continue to propagate this myth.
